follow the guideshttp://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Bringing some of the forms or pulling them down there so you both can review the information required together and prepare would be good.

You may want to prepopulate and print any of the forms for fiance for the first part of the UCSIS approval so you dont have to have them mail you it. Anything with a wet signature.

The letter of intent to marry as well. Just save you some time.

Otherwise nothing else if just doing engagement. While you are there you may want to get copies of their birth certificate / family book...etc

Take lots of pictures better ones that kinda can help validate where/when you are in photo. Receipts from travel/paper trail. Receipts are less common in VN so may need to get in habit to ask for them.

You should do a lot of reading in the VN regional forum here in VJ to prepare for the HCMC meat grinder. You should front load your petition with evidence, don't wait to bring it to the interview.

Not all embassies and consulates are the same. So folks interviewing elsewhere may seem to breeze through. That won't happen in VN. The long history of immigration fraud means that the bar is much higher.

You'll need her signed letter of intent to submit with the I-129. Have her sign it in blue ink. It helps to show that the signature is real rather than a scan.

Good luck. Buckle up. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Good start by hitting the regional subforum. Asking before travelling. Great people here and VN definitely is a hard consulate so more due diligence for folks in this region. Get the fundamentals. Leverage VJ. SEARCH the forums. you'll find much you'll ask ....has been asked.

Update your timeline for people.

Not sure how you communicate now or how much future travel you plan on taking, but may prep by bringing a phone/tablet or something to ease communications or for when fiance comes over they can stay connected w/ their family.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/573494-how-many-times-did-you-meet-prior-to-filing/page-3#entry7878312

Multiple / face/face time is very encouraged. Not sure multiple 'trips' or pure face time, (my trip was a rather long 24 days, not just some weekend jaunt to mexico)

So may want to plan your travel accordingly. Can / will you go back? Many suggest or encourage w/ extreme prejudice that being at the interview (even though you can't participate) is very advantageous (certainly couldn't hurt). Specifically a high risk one such as HCMC.

Had I realized this prior I personally would have truncated my initial trip and tried to save enough time off to come back for the interview, just my $0.02. I am a few days away.

Have a good trip, GL to us all.

Dunno the impression I get by interview time they have pretty much made up their mind if a visa will be issued.

The CR1/IR1 process was extremely straight forward and I assume the K1 is similar The wait for the interview was where the delay occurs. I advise to front load - the more the better!!!!!

You don't need to bring anything from the US. If you want to type up a Letter of Intent for your fiancee to sign, do so and bring it with you to VN.

Get tons of engagement pictures and have them developed in VN instead because it's cheaper there.

Take a few 2x2 passport photos of your fiancee while you're in VN because you'll need them to file the i-129F. Make sure the photographer knows that they are US Passport size because the VN passport size is smaller. Most will email you a digital copy of the photos. Do it because you'll need them later on.

Off topic, don't bring any new iPad or iPhone 6S's to VN. It was recently in the news that VN customs would seize them when you land in Tan Son Nhat. If you do have to bring them, leave the boxes at home.
