Firstname doesn't fit while typing in I130. Can I write or ??

My first name pretty long and doesn't fit the field in I130. Since the barcode is used to get the entries, Is it ok to write the rest of letters by bank ink after print out.

Or will you recommend using pdffiller.com or any equivalent websites? Or Should I attach a blank paper to provide exact name.

I am concerned as "Names" are really impoirtant. thanks.

I typed my I-130 petition and it did not have a barcode on it. The way I handled the situation of words being too long for the form was to type in what I could and then to fill in the rest of the word with black ink.

I just went and downloaded the I-130 from http://www.uscis.gov/i-130and it doesn't have a barcode on it, unless I'm missing something.

The form with expiry date as 12/31/2015. If you scroll down the barcode is at the end of each page

Can somene please advise how to handle this -

• pdffiller [ does it mess barcode as USCIS recommends to use Adobe reader ] or
• Print and write with black ink the 3 letters of first name in same field or
• Add a new paper with name,part, item number and "first name" with date and signature

The USCIS "filing tips" page recommends against adding handwritten edits to electronically-filled forms:

The 2D Barcode ONLY captures typed information; hand-written information is not captured in the barcode. As such, please complete these forms fully electronically or fully in handwriting. Also, if you need to make a correction, please start over with a blank form for that page.

I don't know whether pdffiller captures entered data in a barcode, or whether it simply prints the data in the relevant fields.

This is just my opinion and I have no relevant personal experience (our attorney filled out our forms), but I'd be inclined to simply fill out the I-485 neatly by hand, as that seems to me to be the option least likely to result in errors. I suspect that when handwritten edits/additions are made to electronically-filled forms there's a risk of the edits not making it successfully into the USCIS system.

You totally make sense. Guess I will go with completely hand written. If it is anything other than name, I would have filled electronically and attach a paper to fill in the item with name, part, item number.
