Thank you so much! That certainly helped but we are still left if a couple of blank spaces (zip code, for example), although way less now. I don´t see any other way to input my zip code now other than doing it with pen; I´m just really skeptical about mailing out a form which is either typed and filled by hand...

how many numbers is brazils zipcode?

My husband is trying to fill out the Affidavit of support but the form just won´t accept information such as my address. Is it ok to fill in that info with a black ink pen once the form is printed? Thanks

Hey adaniel, just like zeeeeeeek said, select the country first, and that should update the form fields on the I-864. Another issue that we ran into when filling in my wife's I-864 (and pretty much all the PDF forms) is that you have to use Adobe PDF. We were using Mac's built-in Preview app by default, and the forms would just act funky, with weird fonts and not all the fields showing up, etc. So make sure you are using Adobe PDF Reader when filling in the info.

Another thing to consider, if you are using Adobe and all is good, then if the I-864 does not want you to fill in a ZIP code for your Brazil address then I believe that means that they don't care for that info. The PDF form is designed to work in the manner that the NVC want to receive information from you and if for Brazil it doesn't allow you to input a ZIP code then so be it; they probably don't want that information.

We refrained from writing anything on the I-864 form by hand, other than the signatures of my wife and my joint sponsor, simply because if you realize every time you fill in a piece of information on a page, the bar code at the bottom of that page changes. So my personal advice would be to only input data digitally on the I-864, and only add the signature by hand.

I hope all of this helps... and good luck with everything! :-)

Hi everyone, after finally being able to get all police reports and translation, I was able to Fedex the 2 packages yesterday, should arrive monday morning. Wishing for a fast review and approval.

On another note, is there a forum already open for the NVC December filers? If there is, can someone please share the link?

Thanks!

Good morning :)

I was wondering whether the DS-260 will be automatically unlocked once the IV fee shows paid or we´ll have to call NVC to unlock it. Any help is very much appreciated. Have a good day!

Called the NVC this AM to get my receive date. They were a lot nicer than the USCIS.

Here's my updates:

June 10 - NOA1

Nov 10 - NOA2 (Nebraska)

Nov 20 - Sent to NVC

Nov 23 - NVC receive date

They told me 45 days from receive date for a case number. But I will be calling Monday the 6th lol. And possibly next Wednesday the 8th and then Tues 15th and everyday after lol. Hoping that week of the 15th (or earlier) we get a number so we can submit our payments/forms before the holiday!

What will the timeline look like from here? Any ideas? He's in the UK so if we submit payments etc the days we are allowed to (and I have the AOS/IV package all prepared except for the cover sheet and confirmation forms of course), and a case complete takes a month after my package is received - February interview? Just guesstimating.

For me it took 3 weeks to get case number from NVC after they received, but once you get the case number, you can start you case, make sure you have ready all the documents required for AOS and IV package, as soon as you get case number and invoice you will submit AOS fees and DS261 form, then you should call NVC and they will review your DS261 form, then after 2-3 days your IV fees will open, pay that fees. Once your AOS fees shown paid, you can print cover letter which is required to send the AOS and IV package, so send the package as soon as you get cover sheet, which i am expecting right after you pay AOS fees.

Hope i answered all you question.

Just called the NVC. My scan date Oct 28. Case was still under review, she sent it for supervisor review, said it take up to 42 days but doesn't think it will take that long and that the DS-260 is also still under review. Apparently they are two separate reviews. DS-260 can take from 30-60 days. She did indicate that they are very backlogged. Hoping to move on to the next phase really soon, although the Jamaican Embassy is backlogged and can take 3-4 months for an interview. This process is sooooo long! Lord give me patience to endure to the end and may the good Lord be with you all too!

Yes count 30-35 days from scan date ( the date when NVC scan documents (AOS and IV package) in their system)to be case completed and after 1-2 weeks interview letter and yes February could be good guesstimate for interview date if everything went as i said above, most important is your documents like AOS form, financial and civil documents, if they are completed and has issue with those documents they should complete your case in 30-35 days.

I am so confused with the NVC process since we have a lawyer. I know I can start calling in 2 weeks or so to get our case number and invoice number. Once I get that my lawyer said I can give it to him and he can pay the fees online. However, since we have a lawyer do we still supply the rep we speak to over the phone me and my husband's email addresses so we will receive all corospondences? Our lawyer will be our agent so if we supply our email addresses, will he not receive emails from NVC or will all of us recieve them? Plus I know having a lawyer we get to by-pass the D261 form, and will be invoiced all at once. I keep seeing people say have NVC review your D261 form over the phone, since we won't have one do I just call NVC get invoice number and case number, give it to my lawyer, he pays fees, once fees are paid lawyer can send our Packets to NVC? Sorry for all the questions, if anyone knows where I can see the NVC process while using a lawyer, just point me in the right direction and I will read it all. :)

I guess, once you get a case number and invoice number, you or your lawyer can pay the fees, but you need to fill out DS261 (make your lawyer agent, you can have multiple email address to receive emails from NVC i guess (5 emails). once you fill the DS261 call NVC right over, they will go over with your DS261 on phone.
