Hi,

I know that in the FAQ's of the DS-260 is says that all answers must be in English. But, should I really translate the address and the name of my high school, university and current employers name?? The name in Spanish is the legal title of the institutions.

We kept the names and addresses as is. For example, if the address is "Calle 123, Ciudad, Pais" that's how we wrote it down on the DS-260. I think it's better to keep factual information as "unaltered" as possible, given that you may not be a professional translator. By translating your address or employer's name you could be making things less clear than what they can be. The rest of the information we did write it in English.

So we called and the customer representative confirmed that we got our case complete! Our scan date was October 13th.

can someone help me please...

My husband's case is currently in Algeria waiting for an interview. My case has been completed in August of 2014. I have been trying to get him an interview for the past year and half. I have been emailing the U.S. Embassy in Algeria for the past 2 months and have not gotten a single email back. I have called the embassy and they tell me no IV phone in embassy. I have called NVC zillion times and I am simply told "sorry, we can't do anything because your case is at the embassy." I have requested to speak to a supervisor for the past week and half and every time I have been told "sorry, no supervisor available at this time." Even though i called mornings, mid-morning, afternoon, mid-afternoon, but still get the same answer. I am so fed up! I have contacted the senator's office and after 4 weeks waiting, they told me the embassy replied and pretty much say to wait until it's time for an interview and they will contact me. senator office told me to contact them back in 3 months, if i don't hear back from embassy.

i am so done with this immigration #######. anyone can shed a light on anything i can do to get somewhere?

I saw you got a response in the December Interviews thread.

But yes, all I know is that Algiers embassy takes 3 to 5 months just to schedule an interview and have an open slot. Patience is key!

I130 was received by TSC back in aug 28 2015. Now i checked my case and found out it was transfered today to another office. Getting frustrated here

It takes 2 Weeks for USCIS to send the file to NVC and once NVC reserved it it take 2+ weeks to enter in the system and generate the case number, I am still waiting for case number to be generated, already 2+ weeks.

Time varies from case to case. There are some people that got their case number within 10 days of NVC Receiving their case. NVC will tell you it takes about 42 days for case number to be generated, As for me it has been 12 days since NVC received our case so i have been calling daily since day 10 and will continue to call them daily until a case number and an invoice identification number is generated. Hope you get yours soon, but since it has been 2 weeks since NVC received your case i suggest you start calling them daily now, you should get it any day now.

"The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on 09-NOV-15.Please allow 30 days from the date we received your mail for the NVC to review your documents"

So my scan date in 09-NOV?

And when should i start calling NVC?

Hello every one, I have two questions:

1. Has NVC changed their procedures regarding notifications to applicants? (Siddharth8s just posted they received an email from NVC)

According to Saylin's great NVC Guide, NVC does not notify applicants, at least when she wrote the guide.

"Step 1 - Case Number

Once your I-130 has been approved from USCIS, it will be sent to NVC (a part of the Department of State). Depending what service center the I-130 is coming from, this can take anywhere from a few business days to a few weeks. You may or may not get an email from USCIS/update on their website stating when it was sent.

You won't get correspondence from NVC when they receive your case from USCIS. You need to call an operator at NVC to find this out.

Once NVC does receive your case, it's currently taking around 3 weeks for a case number to be assigned..

If you'd like to stay on top of things, it's best to call about once a week after your NOA2 to see if NVC has received your case. Once they do have your case and about 2-3 weeks have passed since then, increase your calls to about 2-3 times a week (or even more if you wish) until you get a case number assigned.

2. A great majority of NVC applicants do not even know the existence of this wonderful bulletin board (VISA JOURNEY). Therefore they do not know they are supposed to be calling NVC to obtain a case number so they can login and continue their process. If they were not notified by NVC, how did they proceed with their steps through NVC?

Hi there! Yes, that's your scan date. Congrats I would say to start calling maybe end of the month. No point on calling earlier cause from what i have noticed it takes around 26-30 days to receive CC from them.

So it's safe to call end of the month and maybe call every 2 days? Depends how pushy/impacient you are Good luck!

I personally received a welcome letter in the mail with the documents cover sheet needed to send for AOS package.

But had I not called, that would have resulted in a couple of days delay with paying fees.

So, if I am understanding you correctly, the NVC welcome letter is the first contact an applicant has with NVC unless he/she was proactively involved with phone calls.

NVC received my case from uscis October 27 and up to now. Still don't have my case number. I just called and they said 42 days for them to process it. 42 days? For real? That long?
