Here's some advice. Take it.

http://www.snopes.com/language/offense/picnic.asp

As Richard R. Jones noted in Black Voice News, there's a very real downside to spouting hoax definitions just because they push a few buttons: It makes those doing the protesting look ignorant. Those who run with their emotions instead of using their heads end up doing the racists' work for them by making themselves appear to be too foolish to crack open a dictionary, and this caricature is not something that should be fostered if racism is to be defeated.

"Many Black people are too quick to believe negative rumors; therefore, I refuse to contribute to national ignorance. These type of hoaxes only serve to make Black people look stupid and by no means is an advancement in education. It is too easy to go to the library and research the origin of words in dictionaries and/or encyclopedias to believe and spread every bit or garbage that comes through cyberspace."

Congratulations. I don't know who Richard R Jones is but he nailed you pretty good on this issue. Please understand that the rest of us do not have to tolerate or put up with your laziness or ignorance or foolish spouting and spreading of untrue rumors with absolutely no goal but to create racial divisions on this board.

Well, you are posting in the CEHST forum, so it must be appropriate. There are other forums that address visa issues etc.

Please don't be offended.

Huh?

Methinks you fell for an urban legend.

You might want to fact-check that one and get back with us. Looking up reasons to be offended is one think, making up reasons is another.

Instead, the origin on the word picnic is French (piquenique) and was invented long before the atrocities towards blacks took place in America. This French word - piquenique - signifies an outing with food - similar to the word's meaning in English. At these piqueniques, the attendees would all bring food to the occasion, similar to what we call potlucks today. The outdoor concept of a picnic did not originate until the 19th century.

So, how did this word originate? We are unsure what the word pique actually means. There are two options: leisurely eating (picking) or a delicacy of food. Nique was selected since it rhymed with Pique.

Historians have found this French word in references outside of the French language as early as 1748 and into English by around 1800.

IF: Your agenda is to police what words can and cannot be said on the internet consider this to be an official finger at your sensitive little feelings. You can stop making up imaginary offenses anytime you want to, it's your choice. This is getting ridiculous. I can't believe this site tolerates this made up and divisive nonsense.

 Thank you. You can be my internet boyfriend today.

Dead Negro hollow was so named, becuse a Black man was killed there after discovering the secret location of a silver mine.Like in many places in folk lore, it became refer to as the place they found the dead negro.

Now since Negro was the uber politically correct term up until the 60 or 70's I don't see why anyone should be particularly super offended by that.

My only point is, yes I admit we still have racial divides to conquer, but it seems to me with all the issues we face devoting so much energy to such trival things is counter productive. I also believe it fuels a lot of the problems that are happening with black youths and authority figures.
