Most of the people here mentioned that we both must meet each other again, at least twice,is it a real problem for now? Or should we wait until the second meeting to process our k1 visa?

me and my husband only met once before applying, BUT, some embassies are harsher than others (in high fraud countries) and meeting only once might not convince the consulate that its a bona fide relationship.

Meeting once in two years is the requirement. File it and it will take time to get approval and you might get the opportunity to meet in between.

We want to do everything correctly by without worrying the mistake, we've been together for one year before we decided to meet in person. What I worry about if CO asked, ^ how you guy engage with someone for the first meeting? ^! We supposed to meet each other again before the interview because the k1 visa processing is too long and he supposed to meet me again at the interview day, so totally 3 times of meeting. Is it OK? Or the CO really care only why two people decided to engage and become a couple for the first meeting? Because someone fill I-129f it means that they've already engaged, isn't it? It's what worry me now....Sinc the people here mentioned that THE US embassy in Phnom Penh has a very low rate for k1 visa approving, make me concerned about it a lot and it might probably better to fill the form after the second meeting then!

Note replies about other countries with interest, but focus solely on Cambodia.

See "Embassy Info" (link atop any VJ page).

Read "Reviews: Embassy" (link at top), paying closest attention to the worst stories.

Read relevant threads in the "Asia: East & Pacific" regional forum.

Then, post your unanswered questions or unaddressed concerns in new threads in that forum.

My distinct impression is that Phnom Penh is an extremely difficult -- even hellhole -- consulate, so you should delay filing your USCIS petition until you're certain that all of your ducks are in a row.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Absolutely.! It's the hardest embassy to pass K-1. Doesn't work like other countries. Multiple visits and mountains of evidence still gets denied most cases. I would not recommend filing K-1 with just one visit. NOA2 is not the problem it's actual interview. With one visit? You playing lottery. Then if you have red flags it is harder then winning lottery.

It doesn't work that way. The focus is how did you get engaged so fast after meeting in person for few days? That is the focus. You can visit later but that's not the focus. It's a black listed visa fraud country and they don't even go very detail. They see that and don't go further. 2nd or 3rd question during interview co ask that question and if answer is got engaged in first visit then that's it. Co will focus on that sole reason and interrogate like a criminal and eventually deny visa. I am just not assuming or making it up. I witnessed countries interviews in person on 4 different occasions inside this embassy. The point is you got engaged on that first actual physical visit. Later visit or how long each other communicating becomes irrelevant.

I would recommend visiting at least twice before getting engaged. Our case is on AP right now because of that very reason. I believed if I had visited more times before getting engaged we would have passed the first interview. Our CR1 is now on AP but we have a new interview date unlike the typical AP cases.

Go to the regional forum and get better information about your Embassy. Yes, you may need to meet more than once and possibly do other things also.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
