Hi all,

I'm a July filer, I got my EAD card last month September 21 then on September 29 I went to the social security office so I can change my name to my married name and renew my drivers license after. The lady told me I'm not in the system yet so they gave me a letter that they are processing my application and waiting for verification from the Immigration. Today it's been a month since my application, and still my application is pending!!! I went there again 2 weeks ago and told me that they haven't heard anything from the department of homeland security and I've been calling them since then and still my application is pending and NO PROGRESS. We live in the suburb, a car dependent community so a driver's license is really important to me. Has anyone experienced the same problem?? Please help me what to do. They keep telling me the same thing that they can't do anything and all I can do is WAiT. I haven't seen anyone having a problem updating their SS so I'm just unlucky?

There are countless posts of mixed experiences with social security / name changes on the forums. Search via the upper right. Tons of DL related ones as well which will also vary wildly depending on differences in State requirements.
