Hello dear friends,

After successfully completing our I294 application my fiance has arrived on K1 vise two weeks ago. My fiance told me up on her arrival to US, that the officer had informed her that she should be receiving mail with documentation within two weeks. We have not gotten anything yet, how long did it take you to receive these documents and what exactly are we expecting to come in the mail?

Also we are in the process of gathering information to understand what are our next steps are. From what i understand, it would be to 1. Obtain marriage certificate 2. Go to the SSA office and apply for SSN 3. Obtain State ID 4. File in the paper work for AOS.

Any feedback you can provide or any pitfalls to avoid before we begin next phase would be much appropriated.

Kind Regards,

BijeloDugme

(mod hat off)

Welcome to the forum.

:guides: easily accessible at the top of the forum page. In particular, the K1 Flowchart, sounds like you are around steps 15-16: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

Good luck on your immigration journey.

We didn't receive anything.

1 and 2 could be switched. They are exclusive of each other.

3. Obtain State ID

Not required but a good idea. We did.

4. File in the paper work for AOS.

Yes, need to do that.

Any feedback you can provide or any pitfalls to avoid before we begin next phase would be much appropriated.

No

If you filed an I129F and your fiance(e) arrived on a K1 visa then you have to marry within 90 days of POE.

Then gather documents required and file AOS.

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Print out your I-94 info > https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

Follow this guide for getting the SSN > http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

Follow this guide for AOS > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

The fees are listed here > http://www.uscis.gov/i-485

The fees for the I-765(EAD-work authorization) and I-131(AP-advance parole for travel) are waived when filed with a pending I-485, so include both of those too. It takes about 60-90 days to receive the EAD/AP combo card, which will allow you to work(along with an SSN) and re-enter the US when traveling abroad while waiting for the green card approval.

You need all the supporting documents for each form as well, so read the instructions for each one. You can also search here on VJ for what to include with each form if you get stumped. There are also example forms here on VJ you can look at when filling out the forms. They can be helpful.

And here are the details you need about whether or not you need to see a civil surgeon > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

Just be aware that any state id will likely expire with her i94
