My wife has finally received an Interview (k3) date for April 20th. We are all excited about this. My question is, does my 6 month old daughter need a separate passport for the interview. Also, does anyone know of any further evidence besides birth certificates to prove our ties to our daughter? Is a DNA test required at this point? I will really appreciate inputs on these. Does having a kid involved in the process complicate the process or does it help our case? we also wanna thank all VJers for being very helpful thoughout this process. I pray that everyone who is at that point of waiting will eventually get their heart desire.

Thanks guys!!!

My understanding is that you will have to do a consular reporting of a birth abroad - your child does not have to have an interview for a visa, as she is a citizen. I'm not sure how exactly you go about it, but hopefully you can find some information on it.

Good luck with the rest!!

Good luck and congrats!!!

I don't think your baby will affect much the visa petition, however, it will show that you and your wife are both in a real relationship. I believe a certified translated birth certificate showing the parents should be enough to prove she's your baby. And yes, you need to file some docs for her to get the USC status. I don't know which neither.

I've been trying to look into this issue this week as our baby is due in June, and if all goes well my wife will have her interview a few months later.

you need to register the foreign birth: http://travel.state.gov/family/family_issu.../birth_593.html

while they state that they can require a DNA test, more evidence, my guess is that's pretty rare.

I plan on filing for a passport for the child immediately so that she can travel without hassle whenever my wife is approved. Unfortunately Uganda does not recognize dual citizenship so she will have to give that up.

Does anyone have any experience bringing a baby to the interview, I'm torn between thinking that it would be great as further proof (I'll be there as well) and a miserable experience for the baby if we end up waiting for hours in some room. It also may be distracting.
