crossing my fingers too!

I'm going to ask again...Do you guys think USCIS will be working today and tomorrow and Wednesday? Also what about next week cause of New Years?

I heard that they will be working Monday Tuesday and half a day Wednesday.

I am just waiting for the replies too. Very interesting.

I can say only about people in Russia and Ukraine- they DO work by the last day , they try to finish a lot of stuff before the New Year's Eve (or any big holiday such a Christmas which is on 7th of January)

What is the definition of work? working maybe

Will they be in the office? In the office yes.

I'm in the office, and done about 30 minutes of work, and 3 hours of socializing (2 hours with the boss, 1 hour at lunch)---and I'm in private industry manufacturing. Imagine gov.....

Tomorrow in the office yes, perhaps 1/2 day. Some senior person will release everyone at noon. The same happens in gov. Wednesday----good luck

Great news!!!

I'm in a panic about the interview that we don't even have close to scheduling. I have to change my approach completely. But I'm glad I know about it now. Still time to recover.

Error in the VJ information for embassy specific. I checked the other embassies in Africa, and the same error.

The only Federal holiday remaining in 2015 is Christmas day December 25, 2015 so all government offices will not be working. All other days they will be working. Of course, I am sure there is a limited staff as some will use vacation time and such. The same for New Years, off.

Does anyone know how long it takes to send the NOA2 from CSC to NVC? I am just trying to come up with some sort of timeline, doesn't have to be perfect. And once the NVC does receive it, how long does it usually take for them to process it? I know once they do process it, the shipping time from the NVC to the Embassy will depend on where it is.

That my friend is a difficult question to answer. Best guess I can give you from my experience and others is 3-4 weeks from CSC to Embassy.

When you schedule the interview, you have to wait until you receive packet 3 correct? Or can you before?

Keep in mind that a forum like this one is for initial bonding with others who are along the same timeline as you for initial processing. The initial application is the same no matter where in the world you are. But, having said that, once you get your approval (NOA2 text message or email), you should include your country's sub-forum to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with. This will allow you to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to take at the US Embassy - Brazil. Sub-forum for Brazil is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Those in this thread, are applying from various Embassies around the world and there are different process for each. So what works in Russian, Philippines or UAE may not work for those processing through Brazil. VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Brazil and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa

from their personal experience. Link:

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for you country so that you are up to speed.

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages

Good luck and God's speed.

That is much better than I thought. But then again yes we do have to take into account vacation time..and half days. Thank you!
