Hey guys! I am glad everyone seems to be having a lovely Saturday! My fiancé is currently studying his ### off while I'm in Rio sitting by the beach... Life is tough ?

But yea, on a serious note, I still believe we will get our NOA2's before the end of December (I hope). If not, it's fine too :)

I have been watching Igor's list of unapproved petitions and I found some other petitioners with noa1 as far as Oct 13th still waiting cos of beneficiarits from Africa. That is so unfair. I want to know the longest length of time a person from Nigeria has had to wait for an approval,if any of you find this info please post it for me.

A quick look at the VJ timelines, I saw one from TSC that was 14 months. We all know how slow Texas is. The longest that I saw (without RFE) from CSC was 8 months. It's possible that they did not list RFE's on their timeline. The rest are 4 to 8 weeks with the majority being 5 to 6 weeks. Keep in mind that this only represents members of VJ and that actually complete their timeline.

It's a beautiful day here in Fort Worthless... a balmy 52 degrees. That's great that you have your parents and in good health. I'm sure you treasure every moment with them. My Dad was a golfer, every Wednesday he was at the course. The game of golf was not my forte'... was much better at driving the golf-cart. I can still here my father saying: "Son? You cannot tee-up on the greens!". He was the Jackie Gleason of golf and the Archie Bunker of one-liners.

Hmm... does your company do business in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? Coincidentally, I am applying for a position in San Antonio. Just hate to be so far away from my daughter

I think you will get the NOA2 without any RFE's. I see travel advisories for Ethiopia probably for the events that you mentioned. You may have seen this or something similar https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/ethiopia

My first job after graduating college a million years ago was as a Ft. Worth Police Officer. i worked northside, stockyards, mid-nights. Had a lot of fun.

I don't play golf very good either, but it is simply the time spent. When I went off to college I pretty much have been gone since--sort of focusing on myself and forgetting about parents. Luckily I wised up in time to come back, and promised mom I won't wander anymore. And I promised Aisha as well, I'm going to be a normal husband/father, normal job, normal house, normal everything.

We manufacturer cool drugs, such as Rogaine, Minoxidil, Estradiol, Testim, Tylenol day, CeraVe, Imodium, on-and-on, here in San Antonio. Pharma is one those things that will never go away. I guessed you're a manager type, so I did look to see if we had positions. None right now, but they do come up. Growing company that has been in San Antonio 80 years. Get this people actually stay here 30, 40, 50 years and retire normally--well 50 years gets you a fully loaded F-250 Pickup as a bonus. Families bring their kids to work here; pretty cool.

I suppose my trip to Mogadishu, Somalia to meet with the Prime Minister, and his staff against the wishes of the State Dept may come up in this review? Or when my buddy got into a pis-ing match with a consultate and US Ambassador may be written down with my name associated? I did send a letter of commendation to the consulate's boss in the State Dept. after he helped me with an issue. I think when we nearly got into a shooting match with the French military may not be a good report--hey the French commander later met with me and asked me to help them with some items at his base, but the State Dept may not have that written down.

Hmmm maybe when we got into it with a country President, his Minister of Finance, and the Minister's family? Well, they were in the wrong, and not very honest people.

I don't think any of that means anything in regards to whether a K-1 should be granted or not. I have been good for the past year :luv: .

My buddy is now interviewed by various news agencies nearly every week, in newspapers, and consulted by political and industry big wigs. He is doing great. The US Ambassador in that country has highlight him as how the US is changing Africa  One day a very bad boy, the next the hero.

That area in yellow is where Aisha lives :crying: . The troubled area.

ouch, ouch, dang, ouch, ouch, ouch... Me taking the Visa Journey trail barefoot over broken glass...

A bit of good news for myself. I am doing something, which is always good for distraction.

I was thinking (always a bad thing) that perhaps we might be asked for police background for Djibouti-even though she never stayed there longer than 4 months at a time, and there is no 'visa' requirements between Djibouti and Ethiopia (Visa Wavier program between the two countries); so no documentation of her ever being in Djibouti. Travel was by bus.

And I never lived there for 365 days. But still because of the heighted sense of security they may ask me for police background for that country. And I had no idea how I was going to do that. I have no ambition to go there, and I didn't want her to go there either--rioting in Ethiopia, and political crack down in Djibouti.

A very good friend calls me, just like that, tells me he is back in Djibouti (he is Djiboutian) on vacation from his job in South Africa--which I helped him get 5 years ago (he is making a lot of money). I ask him if he can get me police background certificates for Aisha and I. And today he called me and told me he spoke with the chief of police, and they can do it! Not normally done for non-residents, but for him they would do it. He'll DHL it to me on Monday.

Check box ticked off

Just so other's don't get confused, where you have to be physically in the country to which you lived to avail yourself of a Police Certificate (PC), like Ethiopia then there is no requirement that you are mandated to have one for your interview. It's best if you check your country's requirements here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

For Ethiopia the following is stated:

Police Records

Available only to those residing in Ethiopia. Certificates of good conduct from the police (Interpol) are available only to people 18 years or older who apply in person in Ethiopia. Three photos, a valid travel document, and a letter requesting the investigation are required for certificate issuance. Persons released from prison are normally given an official release record.

I just don't want the waters muddied for others that they think they will need one, when sometimes it's costly, time consuming and in some cases it's not necessary. Rule of thumb check to see if you need one. If not, print off the page and bring it with you if you have lived outside your country. We have seen some CO's that are confused and by presenting your document that states you do not need one or that you have to be in country to apply for a PC will help to clear the air.

I know a few current Ft Worth PD officers and a few that have retired. You may have known one or two of them. Had a good friend that was Captain of Homicide. He started out working northside (not sure what division) and then went to westside. I'm sure you have some memorable stories from the stockyards. I went to the Sheriff's Academy for Navarro County when I was 25 while being a store manager. Ended up getting a much higher paying management job offer. Never considered myself as being intelligent by any stretch. But after handling so many domestic disputes... Lets just say that there are some really "not-so-smart" people in this world.

Sounds like you have a really decent job. It's becoming rare these days to find good companies to work for. Even more rare to talk to people that actually like their career path. Companies are always concerned about the bottom line and tend to forget about the people helping them rise to the top. Glad you found a company that recognizes that balance.

I'm a sucker for good stories and you have several. Thanks for sharing. I got nothing to top those I briefly worked in a rehab hospital (LTAC) and was regularly in contact with patients and their families. Some of the best stories were from veterans and their families. History was not a favorite or kind subject for me in school. But to hear the stories of people that were in wars, in the line of fire, and to hear those stories face to face... priceless. One of my favorite stories was from a lady that was a gogo dancer. She was also a pinup girl. She toured different places (camps) during the war. I believe she was on an aircraft carrier and saw her picture painted on the side of a plane. She married that pilot. Yes, she had pictures to back up her story... haha

I am trying to put myself in the position of the person working on your petition and discovering documentation of some of those events :pop::wow:

I am thinking the reason that your petition delay is due to Ethiopia being a high-threat country. If that is the case, then you get a third set of eyes on your petition... "ICE" and "Customs and Border Protection". They manually check their information against information at the "Department of Homeland Security".

Despite their claims, I know that these children (some are 17) coming across the southern US borders have NOT been vetted. Nor do I believe that the Syrian refugees are being vetted. How can they be vetted without any background information?? Duhh. And they want to investigate K-1 Visa waiver program... eruhhh I mean the K-1 Fiance' Visa program

Hi everyone,

I think I'm writing this more for support than anything because I am so down about this whole process. I personally think it's because I'm spending Christmas without the love of my life and I am still waiting for my NOA2 after receiving NOA1 November 13th...... I see a lot of other folks have received theirs, even though they received NOA1's after we did, but I know that doesn't really mean much in the greater scheme of things!! I know my worry is pretty irrational, but I think I'm just emotional because this process is hard enough as is, without having to be separated at Christmas time! I am from South Africa and wonder if it is because I'm from Africa........ I don't know. Right now I am thinking way too much!

Congrats to everyone who has already received their NOA2's - I pray that I can join you and celebrate soon enough (before Christmas!!). Merry Christmas everyone xxx

Hey I like fort worth, a lot better than dallas in my honest opinion. And WAY better than Washington D.C.

I have lived in other states and traveled to many others. Definitely prefer Fort Worth over D.C. Boston is a nightmare. As for Texas, Fort Worth is home. Not crazy about Houston. Have seen people driving on the sidewalks to elude traffic at intersections! I was commuting from southwest Ft. Worth to Plano every day.

I like California (socal). Too rich for my blood. CHP is very friendly there though. Highway patrol stopped me for "impeding the flow of traffic". The posted speed was 55 and I was going 60. Everybody else was going 70. He said "I apologize for interrupting your travel sir". Too funny. After discovering that I was from Texas, he asked where I was going and then asked me to follow close behind him so he could set the pace.

Correct. My apology. I do live in a another world than normal people. This police record I was speaking of is not for Ethiopia, but another country that I and my significant other spent a lot of time--none of which exceeded the time on the I-129F.

In Ethiopia I am a normal (for once normal) tourist, so there is no requirement for me to do that.

No one please base any of what they are doing on anything I have done, am doing, or will do. Just do as everyone else, and you are good.

My apology once again for any confusion

My apology for any confusion once again.
