No available appointments until late January :( you guys may end up way luckier than me. Kingston embassy appointments are going super fast...

Once I get to that point, yes I know I will be luckier. With 1 or 2 K-1 per week in Ethiopia, and they have 2 days for interviews per week, I really doubt their appointments will be filled up.

There I go again, forgetting about the "Jaime Factor".

Hi guys, we're getting confused now regarding NOA 1 vs NOA 2. What's the difference between the two and how do they look like? Thank you so much!

NOA1- is when your petition was received at the Lockbox, where they do a minor review to make sure the documents have the right boxes filled out, is scannable, signed, and most important $$$$ paid. They then scan.

NOA2- is when a USCIS smart person actually reviews the petitioner's background using all those niffy databases they have to make sure you are not on a terror list, and are reasonably moral. Then they go through the rest of the info to see if there is any indication of fraud in the relationship, and if the 2 year meeting really did happen--enough documentation to prove those 2 items are legit.

NOA2 is then issued, which is the approval of the petition.

Consulate is the interview that verifies that the USCIS approval.

Port of Entry interview is the verification that the above two occurred, and there are no changes in the databases before getting in.

Thank you for your fast reply. They received our petition last Nov18, 2015 and we got an approval on Dec14, 2015. We thought that the notice of approval was the NOA 1. So, we're just lucky we have a fast approval from CSC. Post 2nd Year Anniversary gift and an early Christmas Gift for us!!!?

What do we need to do next? Thank you so much.

hahaha...what a great Friday for so many couples. Did you know what it was when the text came in? it's almost hard to believe.

Ted we need to stick together for the next steps as well. My gal is from Metro Manila how about yours?

A big Congratulations to you both.

I think as someone said the other day that CSC was trying to clear out as much as they can before Christmas.

I read the text and thought somebody was messing with me  I have friends that do things like that. Then I checked email and the USCIS app and realized it was true. I agree. we will stick together. My fiance is originally from Davao but lives in Laguna now... much closer to Manila. Congratulations to you the both of you as well.. and to everybody else.

That was probably me that posted that about CSC. I have a friend who works in a Federal job. Years ago, he worked for the old INS. But he still has contacts on the inside.

Jaime? You do know that I feel guilty... right? Yours is coming soon.

Ted--all is good.

Today is a beautiful day in South Texas. A little cool, but a great day for golf. I'm going at 10am (30 minutes from now) with my Dad; actually it is too cold for me but he likes to go in all conditions and I'm happy to spend the time with him. And at 75 having him and my mom alive healthy and nearby, I am well blessed. Then to have a beautiful mind/spirit, somewhat questionable mental condition (to be with me), lady who is patiently waiting for me--who doesn't care where we live (Nigeria was on the list)..well.

Then to have found the perfect job (everything on my want list), in the perfect location, and getting paid more than I ever dreamed...and of course their understanding of my 'mind fa-ts' as I space out at work with this Visa---okay no matter what I said before, I am living a truly charmed and blessed life.

Ted no need to feel guilty, but thank you very much for your thoughts! It is well received, and appreciated....

okay--so now where is my RFE or NOA2........ :ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting:

Hello everyone,

I've been following this very active and informative thread for a while. I'm an Oct filer but received a RFE which caused a long delay.

Excited that I FINALLY got approved 12/18 as my original application was sent 10/9. :)

I feel I'll be able to relate more with this group since my approval is and will be very close to most of you here.

Congratulations to everyone who recently got approved & to those still waiting, don't lose hope and keep up the faith, I definitely know the feeling of waiting, it'll be here before you know it!

Best wishes everyone!

Congratulations!! Despite the long delay, you didn't give up  You are certainly welcome here

I'm trying to be strong and while I'm happy for others, I can't help but feel sad for me and James. I'm heart is set on Dec. 30th approval cos right now they are only approving cases from mid Nov. It's kinda strange that all these people filed on my birthday (Nov.17) are getting approved before the birthday girl...

Just be patient. I have learned that certain countries require a second set of eyes to review petitions focusing on biographical and biometric data. "The National Counterterrorism Center" can hold up the process for those countries in question. There are a few maestros in this theater.. "The Department of Homeland Security" and "The State Department" work very close with each other. Oh yes, and then there is the FBI. Additionally, "high-threat" countries get eyes on it by "Immigration and Customs Enforcement" (ICE) and "Customs and Border Protection". They then compare data with "The Department of Homeland Security" to see if everything matches.

If there are travel alerts or warnings listed by your embassy, you will probably encounter delays. http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/sm-12042015.html

Hoping for a belated birthday present for you

okay--so now where is my RFE or NOA2........ :ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting::ranting:

It's a beautiful day here in Fort Worthless... a balmy 52 degrees. That's great that you have your parents and in good health. I'm sure you treasure every moment with them. My Dad was a golfer, every Wednesday he was at the course. The game of golf was not my forte'... was much better at driving the golf-cart. I can still here my father saying: "Son? You cannot tee-up on the greens!". He was the Jackie Gleason of golf and the Archie Bunker of one-liners.

Hmm... does your company do business in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? Coincidentally, I am applying for a position in San Antonio. Just hate to be so far away from my daughter

I think you will get the NOA2 without any RFE's. I see travel advisories for Ethiopia probably for the events that you mentioned. You may have seen this or something similar https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/ethiopia
