Thank you! Thankfully that's the idea I had, but wanted to double check in case there was anything I needed to be doing in the meantime. And yes, Jameson may become a new best friend during the holiday season for me! Here's to hoping you see your NOA2 next!

Got my hard copy of NOA2 today, and notice date was a day earlier than I thought. Here's to hoping that means a day closer to NOA2.

I'm sure I will be corrected. So here is a preliminary:

After the NOA2 is received you will get a number from the NVA. This number is used for follow on documents such as the 160, which is the actual application for the Visa. There is some differences between embassy's, each has specific that have been determined based upon that location; and somewhat on the Consulate Officer. So you will need to reference your country's specifics for what is required.

Typically the next information provided, packet 3, is as you said a checklist. The checklist is for documents the beneficiary will take to the interview, along with the originals of the petition.

Important is to rely on the specific items referenced for your embassy which is found here at VJ.

Still muddy? As you move along, it will become clearer. Try reading all this information with a glass of Jameson, that will help.

I hope you are in front of the averages--May the odds be Ever in your Favor.

But my advise is not to be like me with high expectations of those dates being accurate in the event the NOA2 doesn't happen within those dates. It don't mean anything just because the NOA2 doesn't happen on those dates. My petition was number 9150 received on that one day, so there are a lot that have to be reviewed each day. Plus there are any number of non-related to documentation reasons for the dates not to be accurate.

Advise: take deep breaths, have a brown bag nearby, and keep believing.....

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences

(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.

Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily

predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing

times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing

briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not

rely on them for planning.

James1942 aka Jamie, This is old but still worth a read to help pass the time.

Thanks! Good information. Confirms most of what I thought.

Anyone know about being able to track 'touches' of the file? It is mentioned in the write up above. I've heard that term used before, about touches of a file being tracked. I have the USCIS app, and there is an ability to do a 'case search' that provides 'receipts'. But all I ever see is "0". Any idea what that is for?
