Hello all. Is "Administrative Processing" a standard status following an interview? The consular officer told my fiance he'd receive his visa in about a week. From what I can tell on here, some people say AP status is normal and others have been in AP for weeks or months. But does everyone's show that status before it is issued?

Yes, that's totally normal, I would say that happens to everyone. It happened to mine too, it even said it was "ready for interview", which made no sense, but about 1-2 week(s) after the interview, my passport was ready, and the status was "issued" on the website. It's all good, girl! ;)

My finances status still says AP even after she has received her visa and is in the U.S. With me already lol

APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!! Yessss!!!!! So happy!

His is my fiance's feedback on his interview:

"It went amazing. Hardly asked me much, just what to I do for work, what do you do? When we first met, when I last saw you., what do we have in common but it was over so quick!!"

A little late--but congrats!!! :)

Yes it was and is just awesome and unexpected when we received the text that it was approved! I was planning it for AT LEAST the interview to happen like this month or the next month.

It's also great because he was able to find an honest job working for a local, family-run painting company (painting houses and rooms and stuff). Full time. Getting paid what I now get from a few years of pay raises. He works pretty much the same time during the day as I do so we are able to share our evenings doing whatever. The financial burden of one person working a job that doesn't-pay-that-great won't have such an impact on us.

My Grandpa also gave us his 1986 Ford Ranger pickup so now we don't have to juggle cars. We are blessed beyond measure and so grateful for all this that is happening.

We are gearing up for our wedding reception (or as I call "operation I-do-again") for September which has all fallen into place. Just scheduled the visa interview for his younger brother to be able to come and celebrate during that time. We are crossing fingers that he will be able to get a tourist visa. If not, we are going back to Nicaragua at the end of this year so we will see him and everyone else anyway.

Uffdah. 2016 is proving to be a busy year

We got our NVC number today! Now what? Is that all we need to begin the online forms to book the interview or do we have to wait Until the embassy relieves the file?

You can fill out the DS-160 with the NVC number and you'll also want to schedule the medical exam. After the medical exam and all your documents are ready, you fill out the online Notification of Readiness Form to inform the embassy in London that you are ready for interview. You are able to schedule your interview online. But be sure to space out your medical exam and interview enough time for the embassy to receive your exam results-- and I strongly encourage 3-4 weeks because my fiance needed an additional letter from his doctor after the medical and it took about a week or two longer for the results to go to the embassy (so it was a good thing it was spaced out by a month). So unless you are truly in an urgent hurry, I recommend doing it in the steps outlined on their website here. Good luck!

My fiancee is crossing the border on August 3rd.

From looking at all of your signatures, how did you all get married so quickly? I was under the impression that my fiancee would have to apply for her SSN, wait to receive it, then apply for marriage license and receive that before we could be married.

Thanks :)

At least in ND you don't need an ssn to get married. We did it at the courthouse 2 hours after he got off the plane. 90 days is waaaaaay too long to wait and get it done if you ask me. I would suggest calling your city's courthouse to verify with them if you need an SSN or not. All I had to do was pay the fee and that was it

Thank you! If you don't mind me asking, did you apply for the SSN before you got married or after? I'm hearing it's wiser to apply before you get married, but I'm not sure why.
