APPROVED !!! :)

My fiancee had her interview yesterday and it was approved.

She interviewed at the embassy in Abu Dhabi. She said the worst part was the wait before the interview. The interview itself was very short and the officer asked only a few basic questions like:

- how where did we meet

- how many times have we seen each other since we met

- what countries had she been to

- are you engaged.....? (strange question)

There were no fees that she had to pay. The officer kept a copy of my passport and some of my tax information from the past 3 years along with some of medical records she had brought. A swift "congratulations" and "you can pick up your visa on Monday", and it was done. Friendly, but to the point.

As stated many times before on VJ; the interview is not that difficult as long as you can be honest and not think about what the officer might "want" to hear.

I want say THANKS to all the people on VJ; asking the questions that so many of us (especially when you're new to the process) need answers to as well as all the contributors who shared their experiences and expertise in answering those questions.

You don't need an attorney, just a decent internet connection and basic reading/writing skills

Next stop: North Carolina, USA...as the journey continues

Good Luck to all

Yay . Congrats!!!!

Well, family crisis averted and we made it to Ankara for the medical and interview! :dancing: As of this afternoon, medical complete! Now just waiting for Thursday morning's interview! :clock: Nervous and excited. This last-minute trip was stressful, but I am SO glad I came and we can be together for all this.

Hi everyone. Just an update. My fiance arrived this past Thursday. She was able to get through immigration without any trouble. I was worried because she had no way to talk to me, her phone wouldn't connect to the wifi. When she arrived in Atlanta she was able to find me, which was amazing. She has loved every minute here so far, she has loved every restaurant i've taken her to and every store. We went to Taco Bell on Friday, she was a little scared because she thought it would be spicy. I had her get a crunchwrap and she liked it.

The past day we have been doing a lot of wedding planning. It is also interesting, I have probably spoken 10 minutes worth of English in the past 4 days. But I think it has really helped my Portuguese, I even had a dream that was completely in Portuguese. I am at work and all I want to do is spend more time with her. But I need to make that money for our wedding lol.

Great news! So happy for you! :dancing:

APPROVED !!! :)

Congratulations! :dancing:

Since everyone is withe their significant other it became so quiet here!!!! :) Which I would say in it's own it's a good sign meaning we all got to finally be with our loved ones ?!!! ????. Quick question did anyone try to get an ID or driver license ? The social went easy but i wonder if we could get an ID. I read here on VJ some people got it some didn't.

I also notice the silence. We haven't tried to get an ID, not until he gets his GC as the DL will only be valid for a year....or sometimes until the I-94 expires...which is dumb.

However, when I was at our local DMV I asked a worker there if my husband can drive with his foreign license to which she says, of course...no problem. So..I'm taking this gal's word for it until we get his GC and then we will get him a DL

Hi y'all! Got an update (though a bit late).

My fiance had his interview last Wednesday.......and he was approved! It was such a relief and after being there, it's so funny to see how stressed and over prepared we were (if anyone can really be over prepared!)

A short little review about his interview. He had his medical on Monday, got his results later that day, his biometrics were done the week before where we live (Monterrey), and we just kinda hung out until the interview. His appointment was at 8:15 but we decided to head over there around 7:30 because I was too anxious to sit around. They let him right in the door and my mom and I waited for him at a plaza next door. He came out around 10 with that glorious green paper! While he spent about 3 hours in the consulate, his interview was only about 5 minutes long! They took the required papers and directed him to sit down. When he was finally called up, the officer (who looked like Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer supposedly—it's a sign!) took one look at the bulging binder I sent with him and went "WOAH WHATS ALL THAT!"

She asked him to raise his and and take the truth oath, all while he was shaking from the weight of the binder (oops haha), and she continued to ask just a few questions:

What's your fiancee's name?

How, when and where did you meet her?

What's her birthdate and where was she born?

Who is (name of cosponsor)?

Do you speak English?

Have you been to the US? (yes)

Have you overstayed a visa? (To this he of course said no, he hasn't. The funny part was that during our last trip to my hometown in March 2014, as we were driving back across the border, he forgot to give back the I94!!! I freaked out and sent him walking back across the border to give it back to which he was stopped by both Mexican and American border patrol agents. The Mexican agent was very hostile with him, telling him he couldn't go back to give his paper and all this stuff. Finally the American agent came over, asked what was the problem, my fiance explained he forgot to give the paper back and the American agent was like "oh no problem, I'll take it back, just remember the next time!" Well, the officer KNEW about this!! She was like "yeah, I saw you forgot to turn in your I94 and went back to give it to the border patrol agent." crazy that she knew that!)

She looked at a few of the pictures I sent in the I-129F packet and was like "aww" "who's this?" "awwww."

She did some typing on her computer and was like ok I'm going to approve your visa congratulations and good luck!

It is such a relief that this is over and we can finally go home together! We came back to Monterrey that same evening, he received his DHL number on Friday April 1 and he picked up his passport from DHL yesterday morning! We'll be moving back on April 22 :D WHAT A RELIEF!!!

Congratulations on all those who recently got approved as well :) I feel like this is kinda a graduation day.
