had my interview on 15th... still waiting for passport to be delivered.. today they changed the status to "administrative processing" .. dnt knw what exactly that means.. some people say its normal after approval as printing and preparing visa packet is also reffered to administrative processing . on the other hand some says its bad sign as it could take weeks or months. the CO said my visa is approved and i will get it in 5-10 days. she did'nt gave me any letter or 221g except the yellow paper apporval.. i booked my flight in excitement for 30th march.. and embassy is going for holidays from 24th to 27th.. dnt knw if i will get my passport back by 29th or not.. its really frustrating

they didn't ask for any pics or any proof I brought with me, they only asked for the forms, citizenship and financial comprovations, and other comprovations I can't recall now.

We made collages with pictures of us + a brief description to each, skype/sms/whatsapp logs and they didn't ask for any of those. Still I think it's good bringing those to the interview, just in case. Our case still says "Administrative Processing", and hoping this week still it will say Issued!! yay!

Hmmm.... the I-134 form on the USCIS website still says it expired 2/29/16.

Couple questions though... on question #8 of who is dependent on me for support... what do I put there? Do I put my 5 yr old son? Do you put the fiance? Or leave it blank. Also, #11... how you intend to provide/contribute. Do I just put that it is in reference to a K1 Visa and fiance will begin working after AOS and work authorization?

I have 3 years IRS income transcripts. But as far as employer letter... what do they need to provide? Hire date, full time status, salary on letterhead? Should they address it to the London embassy?

Thanks!

For the first question I would say put your son, but not your fiancé.

Employer letter: hire date, full time status, job responsibilities, salary on letterhead along with "she is in good standing with the company" and

"[she] is reliable, hard working, and someone who can be trusted and relied upon. To our knowledge, [she] has never acquired any type of financial assistance from the government other than a student loan. She is a model citizen who is an asset to our country"

Guys, a very silly question I couldn't get clarified:

when I arrive there, will I have to apply for the social security number BEFORE the registry building wedding or AFTER?

Can I just go to the place wth my fiancé and my passport with the visa on it and get married just like that?

thanks!

You don't need the SSN to get married. And most ladies get their ssn after if they will be changing their last name. You can get one before, but you'd have to go back to the social security office again after you get married to document the name change.

Also, I did read on another topic *not* to wait until after if your wedding will be near the 90 day mark. Others recommended getting the ssn right away if you are being added to bank accounts or medical insurance and changing your name after. But either way has been successful for people. Hope that helps. :)

I've been looking into this for the past week or so. The problem is from what I read, the SS office has to find the name of the person with the K-1 Visa in the immigration database and issue the card in the same name as it is on the I-94, which of course will be the maiden name. And if you wait two months, it will be too late to get SS to issue a card before the I-94 expires and will have to wait on the green card before getting it. And also since I want to add my fiance to my bank account asap, she will apply for the SSN when she gets here then after she will change it to her new name.

I took my fiancee 2 weeks after he arived here. I printed the i94 took his passport and the aplication form. You can find everything here on VJ. All the forms and requirments as well. After we applied we got his social in 5 days. Its all good he got the card and number but there is a little print on top saying to use with EAD CARD for work and other stuff. I read many posts here on vj saying that they went after marriage and they were told it couldnt be done because the visa expired as soon as they got married and they had to wait for the GC. So basicly wait for 2 weeks or 10 working days so that they will have you in the system after arival. depending on when your weeding is apply for one before it and good luck!:)

That happened to my husband. The dummkopf that entered his name put his first and middle name as just his first name

So now we can't correct his name until the citizenship stuff...unless we want to pay an arm and a leg for it

Congratulations guys, every time that I see someone's approval my hope and faith goes up, is been a long way now, but at the end we all are going to see the light at the end of the tunnel that we all are waiting for, one of the reasons that keep me strong is my daughter which is waiting for me at the other side, so we need to keep praying to the Lord and hopefully we all are going to be approved very soon... God Bless Everyone in this Forum..

Dealing with Indian government rules and regulation is an adventure. Still no interview date because..... The Indian government does not allow bank transfers from banks that don't use its currency. So I can't pay the visa interview fee to schedule an interview. Western union you say? Just send her money through western union and she pay the fee? Nope western union in India most of the time doesn't allow transfers from people without the same last name. Last time I sent her money to pay for forms she had to argue with the people at western union to get the money. PayPal and all those sites like that have same restrictions.

We are so close but can't grab it yet. Very frustrating.

Oh and don't forget that India has holidays at least once a week so that's more days that offices are closed.
