I just want throw out a WARNING as someone in another forum just got their visa turned down at their interview. Seems they presented a picture to the CO (CO asked to see their pictures) and within the batch of pictures was one of the two of them that looked like a "wedding" ceremony. The moment the CO saw the picture she declined the visa and she would not take their word for it that it was an "Indian" engagement party. Of course I believe that it had a more "cultural" sounding name but it slips my memory.

So don't bring any pictures of the two of you in any kind of ceremony that could be construed as a wedding. This has happened to many others throughout the years so "buyer beware".

Yep from pictures my fiancé has shown me of Indian engagement ceremonies of her cousins, they look a lot like wedding ceremonies in pictures.

Anyone know on average how long it takes NVC to receive a petition from USCIS? RileyBrynn25, you and I seem to be running close on our timelines, have you called an heard anything yet? I called yesterday morning and got the same thing, not received yet.

Not sure how long it takes them to actually receive it but from reading many posts about when to call them for a case number, 10 business days seems to be average. In our case, I received the NOA2 text on January 25 and got the case number on February 9th. I called early in the morning and got a real person on the phone after 3 rings.

Yeah I called wednesday morning and got a live person but they still had not received it. I read on other threads that for some reason NVC has slowed down a lot recently people are reporting in a wait of 3-4 weeks, so the 10 days... eh.. I'll call friday morning after I get off work and see (so in about 9 more hours) I think I'll probably have better luck next week.

My NOA2 was feb 29th.

Hmmm, I suppose not to early to start thinking about that. Would the beneficiary need to be a documented Martian, or would it be a person from earth who is just living on Mars? As Mars is not a recognized country as yet, where does the passport get issued? Would the interview take place there, or at a embassy in Washington?

Lots of questions, and few answers. could be very stressful.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You got any details to pass along? How about words of wisdom.

:thumbs::thumbs::star::star::thumbs::thumbs:

Thank you, and sorry guys I'm still in Uganda haven't been online much.

Words of wisdom are don't overthink anything to the point your stressing. The process itself was pretty simple, and all you really have to go by is what the embasssy informs you you will need (they don't ask for anything more than what they tell you to bring )

We were way over prepared at the interview with an entire binder of information (I think similar to the one that you had suggested lol) while others had very minimal amount of paperwork. I wasn't allowed to enter the embassy and escort my fiance through the interview or anything like that, but from what she said it was very basic questions..

Also if your interviewing in Kenya, I advise getting there early as its first come first serve and Kenya services numerous surrounding countries. If your not there early (luckily we were the first ones there haha) then your in for a much longer day..

Did your husband petition for you (No, my fiance)

When did you meet

how does your family feel about him

When do you plan to get married

Yessss APPROVED!!!!

Poeh what a day.. I was so nervous but everything went very smoothly. But the lady asked many questions:

- what's your fiance's name?

- where have you met?

- how many times have you seen each other the past year?

- how many times have you been in the us?

- what kind of job do you prefer in the us?

- what kind of job does your fiancé have?

- why did you decide to get engaged (we only know each other for 1 year?)

- where does his family come from and have you met them?

- has he met your family and do they like him?

- do you plan on having children?

- in which city are you going to live?

- when did he propose to you?

- who are the people on these pictures?

And then she was looking at the screen of her computer for a couple of minutes and I started panicking but then she put all my papers in a map and told me the good news! Woohooo

Great news!!!! Was there a white blinding hot lamp on you too? oh, that is a lot of questions. Good for you to face them down and win!!! You are awesome

Hey guys :) I just got scared reading about the denied visa. I also have engagement photos but with a big peachy dress which took place at home. So I was kind of scared if the CO will confuse it with a wedding... we have pics of us wearing the engagement rings on our left so that shows its definitely an engagement.. any suggestions as to what I should do?

Photos I frontloaded, and Aisha presented at the interview included one with her wearing a wedding dress. She was trying it on. She also wears her engagement and wedding rings all the time, and did so at the interview. I told her not to wear the wedding band, but she said she was proud of it; what can I say?

Anyway, never brought up... It must have been a luck of draw. If it is to be, it will be, and there is nothing we can do to mess it up no matter how hard we try....

Hi guys, I'm following different cases in the app and this morning I found out that yesterday they approve one of them and another one was denied, all the cases that I follow have the same status like mine (Respond to USCIS request for evidence was received) One of those was received the same day like mine which was on feb 17 2016, so I think that we're close to get the good news

I was also wearing my engagement ring yesterday during the interview and we provided a picture with the engagement rings, the receipt of the rings and a picture of me and his family after the proposal.. but it didn't cause any problems for us
