Thank you guys. I feel relieved. They should verbally have to tell you if you are approved or not. They are trying to give us a heart attack. But I am very happy!!! My fiance got like 3 hours of sleep so she is about to pass out. Feels good to be at the end of this long process. Now I need to buy plane tickets. :D

WARNING!!

Don't buy any plane tickets till you have your visa in hand!! Over the years I have seen others who have purchased tickets before the visa was in their hand. Of course, excited as they were, you can't blame them. But what happened after the interview caused them to change their tickets and costing upwards of $600 in fees. Don't make the same mistake.

Doesn't hurt to look around and see what the fares will be and the best routes to travel.

Here is what the Embassy should have told you as the Philippines Embassy does give this warning in their Embassy Letter.

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you.

Been waiting on the consulate officers word that the packet will be ready in 6 business days. It's been 7. My own impatience is killing me

While the response from embassy after an email inquiry is 3-5 business days. WHATS GOING ON!?

Here's the thing dude. Don't tell me somrthing and not actually mean it.

>:-(

There never was a guarantee when you will get your visa in hand. I have seen within 2 days and others waited upwards of another 45 days. Follow my earlier post above. Don't make the same mistake buying tickets till your visa is in hand.

You will get it soon though!! Have you purchased ticket?

GUYS, how long after approval can you get ticket for? Meaning do you think we get our visa in like 2 weeks? Or do you think it can take like a month?

See my post above. No one can say for sure when you get your visa. Everyone's case is different and everyone's Embassy is different. Just be patient. DON'T buy plane ticket till you have your visa in hand.

Hi guys, I have received Case number from NVC!!!!! Does this mean I can have fiance do the DS-160 now and schedule interview? Or what exactly is next step?

What does your Embassy say. Every Embassy is different. Have you looked for the instructions from your Embassy? Normally you can do the DS-160 now but scheduling the interview is up to the Embassy so you must go to their website and read their instructions.

Thanks Greenbaum. I can't buy the ticket yet anyway because she won't know until next Sunday the date she will be able to come. She has to take care of something before she gets here. But once her passport arrives, I will buy the ticket because it is not cheap.

but this is a democracy. What they state about when the visa is to be made available, whether 5 days or 10 days must be followed.

Oh wait. This is the United States of James Carter.... Must I pull out the youtube again?

Agreed, the dumb thing is that according to all the responses and times told by embassy people, we should have the visa in hand by now. I'm taking their word for it.

Ain't that like the gov't! They expect us to be punctual to the 't', yet when it's their turn, said date is much more fluid and "not guaranteed". Pah!

Finally got through on the phone today. A short call, I was heading into a meeting. She will leave for Addis as soon as her cousin arrives to escort her. Pooooooor guy, he will travel (bus) nearly 2 days to get there, then turn around and head back. That will put her there with 20 days out so time enough to complete medical/police.

Okay. So I just heard from my fiance. She said they took her passport and said she will receive it in 2 weeks. They didn't say if she was approved or not. Is that bad? Would they take your passport if they deny you? From what her and I have read this is a good thing.

Congrats! Sounds like an approval to me. :)
