The financial (Evidence of Support) is I-134. Would that not be the correct one? Or are we talking about another process?

I-134 is the form you must prepare for the interview. I-864 is used in the AOS which comes after your married, and is used for a co-sponsor if one is used for the interview.

Yes that is the form I-864 for a co-sponsor. If you are submitting for yourself only the you use the I-134. Always check with your Embassy Website for all required documents. Don't do, do, if do will do.

We are using a co-sponsor but our embassy packet only says: I-134 Affidavit of Support form by the co sponsor if we need one, so we wouldn't need the other one you listed right?

It is most commonly used in connection with visitor visas, fiancé visas, and diversity visas where the immigrant’s income alone is not sufficient to avoid the risk of him or her being found inadmissible as a "public charge."

This form is available for free download on the I-134 Affidavit of Support page of the USCIS website.

My mistake. Yes the Form I-134 is filled out by U.S. sponsors (as well as the petitioner) to show the U.S. government that the person can and is willing to support a non-U.S. citizen financially during that person’s temporary stay in the United States. It is most commonly used in connection with visitor visas, fiancé visas, and diversity visas where the immigrant’s income alone is not sufficient to avoid the risk of him or her being found inadmissible as a "public charge."

I just have a question. When my fiancé gets here and we got married can he travel with me? Can he at least drive within US. I'm the petitioner and the wife =)

Yes, you are free to travel within the U.S. BUT do not leave the country until your spouse files and gets approved for AP (which takes about 90 days from initial filing date).

Don't know if people are announcing these things anymore but I have a medical for this Wed Feb 3rd and Embassy appointment March 18th. Very excited and nervous.

Just the I-134 and she has to send her taxes, job letter or pay stub and copy of her Naturalization Certificate or US Passport. If she doesn't make at least $16,000 a year (on her taxes for 2014), she'll need a co-sponsor. In case she needs a co-sponsor, she still has to submit her documents, plus the exact same documents from the co-sponsor.

When I asked my lawyer this is what she said. I thought that we need to make 125% above poverty guidelines. Which is 19.912$. This got me confused a bit!! But I will still go with the 19.912 amount.

When my fiancé gets here are we allowed to fly to other states. I have friends in other states that would like to meet my fiancé/wife when she gets here.

Still waiting on responses after 3 days since they received the additional evidence they need. Hopefully it will be soon.

Our Ethiopian 'subforum' is a figment of someone's imagination. Zero, nada. More along the lines of Greek Mythology.

What we as K1 visa petitioners and beneficiaries have been left behind with are tales of the likes of Medusa within the walls of Embassy that spend their days guarding the K-1 visa approval stamp from innocent K-1 applicants . With a legacy of a turning the applicant into terrified stone. It is said that only the bravest and most cunning of K1 applicants have come out of the Embassy cave with an approved K1 visa in hand.

Whether this is truth, fiction, or a mixture we will not know until we venture inside.........

So EE&MY, as this forum is only for initial bonding, and not intended to be a place for long term support, I myself welcome you to the club of the orphans without a subforum.

I believe that legends and myths are the creation of an imaginary mind to provide reason to situations that are not acceptable to that person. For our Ethiopian brethren it is being denied their Visa. It had to be due to the Embassy not wanting to give K-1 visas to Ethiopians, as an arbitrary directed decision against Ethiopians. And so the boogeyman (lady) is born.

Of course our US Embassy (all) are secured like Fort Knox which adds to the mystery and sense that we are not so welcoming; The dark castle.

But as we enter we find it to no more than a typical US government building. The people typical government civil servants. Some good, some okay, but just people doing their job. There are protocols, and check boxes that have to be followed and checked. If those are all done then all is well. The lean at the start of the interview process is approval, but the question and answer period is a final check. Or if the Embassy has found something their own check prior to the interview, then the denial was already predestined, with the interview a final formality.

So nothing to fear but fear itself.

Yes your fiancé can travel within the 48 US continental states, Hawaii, Alaska and US Territories. She can be your fiancé and still be able to travel with you, does not have to be your wife.
