You guys are saying wait 2 weeks? I'm confused as to why when others on here say at max 10 days

Packet 3 is not required to be in hand, but will be sent in email. Packet 3 is a checklist of documents to bring. Everything we already know from being VJ veterans.

Next Steps:

1) DS-160 submission online. get receipt number. (keep DS-160 in records)

2) Go to web site to schedule pay visa, register for DHL, and schedule interview (in that order):

• Complete pay visa information--print this document. Go to Bank of Abyssinia in Addis and pay in person (no alternative). Get receipt number (keep in records)
• Register for DHL to forward Visa to Bank of Abyssinia when ready (with all documents)
• Schedule interview (use receipt number from above). print this document (keep in records)

3) Get new passport photos taken (no excuse about being 4 or 5 months--rule is 6 months)

4) Apply for police certificate (3 weeks in advance) -- I want to make sure the cert is done in time.

5) Get medical; use schedule document for authorization (2 weeks in advance)

6) Interview

I would also reading what Nubianqueen wrote about the interview at Ethiopia. They were the last couple to get approved for a K1 from VJ group--back in May 2015; Look at their timeline as well, and you will be more thankful about how fast we are going.

not yet. there have been internet network problems. They can not get a connection to stay open long enough for them to do it. The worse case is they will do it this weekend from Addis.

After that they will pay Visa next week. Then I will schedule interview.

I am still in the dark on available interview days. I have faith the end of the month (Feb) will be available.

If you can get the DS-160 submitted now, then you will definitely be ready the same time.

oh..z internet connection is so bad here but it will be better if she come here in addis !!! there is a high speew intrnew cafe ... plss let me know if there is anything I can help her when she is in addis ... as for me ..ill fill the form on monday pay for the visa ..and by next week ill finsh the medical and am sure the I can have police certificate with out packet 3 ??? and interview date in ethiopia is mostly available so no worrie !!.. ....ohh do I have to wait when until my status changed to ready????? its still at NVC !!!

That should do it. What evidence of meeting did you include originally in the packet?

I had letter of how we met, photos of us together, boarding passes.. Don't know why they wanted more of evidence and when clearly we have been together...

How about waiting until the package has been received by the embassy first? When it is received, next week, submit the DS-160 and roar off the starting line.

Schedule the interview out at least 3 weeks. This will give the embassy time to do 'something', and give you time to get the police/medical. You don't want to have to 'try' to reschedule your interview because the police take longer.

Medical: You just need to show the interview scheduled date. It will be the confirmation page you will get when you schedule. This is what we will use.

Let me know your interview date, maybe we can schedule ours the same time. I'm thinking 23 Feb, but maybe the week after.
