Thank you so much, Greenbaum.

Another question: Can we schedule the medical exam and interview if the status of the case is not yet "READY"?

Yes you can schedule the medical exam prior to you case not in "ready" mode. Most cases reach USEM rather quickly after NVC assigns the case number. Pay your interview fee, schedule you interview, be sure to print off the confirmation page to your interview for SLEC. Then go take your medical. I would shoot for a interview date about 3-4 weeks after you received your case number from NVC so for you maybe Feb.

Good news! I got my case # from NVC this morning!!!

Good news indeed. My case was just received by the embassy in Rio. Awaiting anxiously for my fiance to schedule the interview today, that will determine everything. Your case should arrive by the end of the week.

--Enter the number into the DS-160, upload photo, and have her push the submit button

Still not sure about any payments needed at this point.

--After that, wait a week to call Embassy to see if they have received package. Ask them if I can schedule interview (on-line of course). I am thinking best to speak to them, so they know us :goofy: . We become familiar, and not just another file.

--Then Medical/police; most likely 2 weeks from now.

--Interview around, or before the 3rd week of Feb. Which is ahead of my preliminary schedule, and way ahead of the predication I made in Nov "Visa in Hand".

Congrats JAIME!!!

Was it difficult to obtain the number?? Describe this call plz!

I call and use my 'canned request':

"Hello, it is a beautiful Monday" I said

Nice soft spoken lady takes a moment to respond, "yes it is nice".

"Perhaps you can help me. Would you be able to tell me if my approved K-1 petition has been received?" I asked

"Yes, what is your receipt number", she asked

Receipt number given

"What is the beneficiary's name, and date of birth" She asked

As soon as she said that, I knew this was good. Normally they say no. I gave the info.

"Is your cell phone number xxx-xxx-xxxx" she asked

Yes it is--me

"We received it this morning, and just entered it into the system. Here is the case number ADD2016 xxx xxx"

I was momentarily stunned. I thought she would only say yes they have it, now a week to process.

So I asked, "What can I do with the case number?"

"When you call the embassy you reference this number. We will send out the documents later this week"

"Thank you very much, and have a wonderful day" I ended.

Are you sure it was "YOUR" case this time?

Start doing the (Happy Dance)

I hope so, I still don't believe it

For me it is okay. Rights reserved for the Nov 2015 K-1 petition family
