They always say the same thing...Yes I can

help you, what is your receipt number.

the receipt number is the uscis number, no? you should have that already. once nvc has your case, you call and get your nvc case number.

but even more important! once you have the noa2 hard copy, you can start on other time consuming steps, like the police report. in Thailand it takes 3-5 weeks if you don't pay corruption (minimal corruption is one of the hallmarks of our American system: I couldn't ethically do it). if I started that process the day I got noa2 in the mail, i'd nearly have the police report now and my packet 3 would be on the way to the embassy already!

(your country may vary in what needs to be done, check country specific forums)

I agree there is not a clear guide to what happens after noa2. figuring out the "which came first" game of the gss number and ds-160 nearly made many head explode. I'm going to post a guide in the Thai section when we get to interview stage, "what to do and what not to do".

despite the holiday slowdown we are all moving much faster than years previous where people waited 5-6 months for noa2. best of luck to everyone, and keep breathing!

Haha I say it! I ain't letting these #### run my life.. despite being frustrated, we found a cheap ticket to come here so he is coming here next week. Atleast we get to see each other and then wait only a few more months because I am sure it will go through no matter what. Will kinda just let go of the waiting for a lil bit. Still crossing all that could be crossed for them to put their lazy butts to work. i hate uscis ?? Edited by Gc&dl

@ Gc&dl:

be sure to take lots of pictures, especially with family and friends, and have these same family and friends update fb etc with pictures with you.

There are currently only 3 numbers that I know from memory that are longer than 4 digits. My social security, phone, and the USCIS number. :wow:

Thanks! I'm still in shock. I'm gonna try to wait and tell him in person....but we'll see how that goes when he wakes up and texts me tomorrow.

I'm just glad I don't have to pack the paper bags to meet him in Mexico.

I'll give it two weeks, but then it won't be long before the NVC starts calling me Adele..."Hello from the other side....I must have called a thousand times....."

I am so excited. I just called the NVC and received my NVC case number. That wait between NOA2 and getting my NVC case number felt like forever. But the lady said my case is ready and will be shipped to the embassy soon.

Excellent news and just before the weekend.

Did that Jaime character ever get his NOA 2? ....Oh wait...never mind. :joy:
