Ted's right. No need to panic as it is the case number for the US Embassy Manila, hence MNL#

Each Embassy typically has a signifier for their case number.

Don't wait. You need to be calling the NVC to get your MNL# but won't be ready till about 2 weeks after your NOA2. If you got your NOA2 then the MNL# is there at the bottom. Get moving when you get your MNL#. Use my website. I guarantee it will make your journey so much easier. Link is at the red twisting arrow below in my signature.

@ sars. you probably won't get an email from nvc. we didn't.

check the k1 flowchart in this forum.

briefly: after sending in your I129f, you can check your status with the uscis.

when they approve it ("noa2") it will go to the nvc.

after a week or 2 you can call the nvc and get your nvc case number. you can use that new number to track your status at the nvc websight (I guess it's actually the droit of state websight).

when your status there says "ready", you can send in your completed packet 3, regardless of whether you have received anything from the embassy yet. this speeds things up by a couple weeks.

oh, and sars, for the second part of your question: each embassy has different instructions for the medical. generally you need to have an appointment scheduled with the embassy before you can schedule the medical. ymmv.

the embassy appointment is not scheduled until they receive your packet 3.

so: don't schedule the medical yet, but check your embassy websight for their specific directions. I'm accurate for bkk but it might not be the same for you.

You will not get an email most likely. You really don't need one as long as you have your MNL#.

You received your case number ("received MNL number and invoice number"). That number should start with a different set of letters which signifies what Embassy the number relates to. MNL relates to the Philippines. Yours should be for your Embassy.
