Trying not to check our online case status every hour. ?

"Trying" good luck. I can see you have the same personality flaw as myself. Get the phone app as suggested. Then update when you feel the hyperventilation happening, almost as good as using a brown paper bag. Believe even though I knew it didn't matter, I still updated the app data very often.... And in the end, it didn't matter. But it got me through the rough time.

got NOA2 hard copy today... too excited! :)

Congratulations!!!! I'm waiting on ours too. I can't wait to feel it, and add it to our file. It is part of our new family history.

Congrats to you!!! So exciting.

No NOA2 yet but I bought my wedding dress today. It definitely helps to stay busy and put your energy into other preparations. Wedding planning and making my home OUR home. :)

What an exciting time it is for the two of you to plan your wedding. Only advice I can give you is exactly what the Embassy/USCIS states and that is:

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of property, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you. Generally, a single-entry fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance, unless its validity is limited by medical or other restrictions.

Very cool. No need to consider the 'warning' of not doing this or that--in my opinion. Unless of course if the K-1 doesn't work out that one of you will cancel the relationship---not sure about how to handle that one.

So whether you wed in the next couple of months with the K-1 in hand or not, you know you're getting hitched at some point. So plan plan plan is my motto.

I'm in the middle of a complete home remodel, to include the yard (I tilled it up today, and I'm bushed). Wedding dress was purchased 6 months ago. I took her measurements using a dollar bill (I forgot the measuring tape, and there are none to be found in Addis), and had it made custom for her in the USA--it fit her perfectly in August. I've got on my list of purchases a new bedroom set (March).

I should put a note here: I had nothing previously other than a 1985 geo tracker, and some 2nd hand (perhaps 3rd or 4th) furniture so starting from scratch.

I quit my former job, overseas, to start a new one in the USA just for us. Gave up my nomad single guy existence tor a stable job in the USA, because we agreed we'd have a family and I would be home every evening. All in preparation for this.

In my opinion if this isn't worth throwing your whole self into it, then maybe it is just a passing hobby.

NOTE: I am a nut, so do not take anything I do as any more than that of a quack.

Yes that is what Tyler is saying. There have been rare instances that NVC will assign a case number after a week but the great share of those cases are not completed until after 10 working days. You can start calling after a week, but your better off to call around the 10 business day.

Checking on your embassy case number:

It will take 7 - 10 days business for NVC to receive your file from USCIS after you receive the NOA2, then another 2 - 5 business days for NVC to get your file in there system and get the case # from USEM. Call at 7:00 am eastern time for shorter wait times K1's are not tracked through the AVR, ever. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get an operator:

1-603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888. Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

Press 5 for non-immigrant visa K-1 visa.

NVC CONTACT INFORMATION:

Website: www.immigrantvisas.state.govwww.immigrantvisas.state.gov

E-mail: NVCInquiry@state.gov I highly recommend you email NVC for the case #, even if you call and get it, this will give you a correspondence from NVC with the case # for future reference. The email request for your case # is also a great way to track when your file is forwarded to your Embassy as NVC will not reply to the email until that time.

REQUIRED SECURITY INFORMATION:

You are required to provide the following security information with each inquiry to receive a case specific response:

* NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number (Place in the subject line of the e-mail).

* Petitioner's name and date of birth.

( NOTE: If the visa petition is employment-based, include the employer's company/organization name instead of the petitioner's name and date of birth. )

* Principal Applicant's name and date of birth.

--- Use this site to check When your file ships from NVC to USEM: State Dept. visa tracking: https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx?

. Green which CEAC site would show our MNL number? I tried it and it only shows that it was forwarded to the embassy. Should we wait more?

Don't wait. You need to be calling the NVC to get your MNL# but won't be ready till about 2 weeks after your NOA2. If you got your NOA2 then the MNL# is there at the bottom. Get moving when you get your MNL#. Use my website. I guarantee it will make your journey so much easier. Link is at the red twisting arrow below in my signature.

Also, good bonding here in this thread. A good bunch of people, but questions about the process in the Philippines can be asked over in the Philippine sub-forum. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/129-philippines/

I'm guessing that MNL is a Philippine thing. That is why I don't understand the lingo you guys are speaking? Or is this something I missed and should be in panic mode again because I don't know about it?
