It depends on the Country. Some embassies schedule the appointment for you while others require you to make your own. Find out if that embassy require you to make your own appt. Good luck.

Thanks! She is 26 years of age. So, yes I am being too jumpy.

But to be on the safe side, I'll ask and see if she can get a note from Mom and Dad.

45 years gap? dang :sleepy:

Yup. That's quite common in the Philippines. The young ladies and their family are looking for a Kano Money Train. But, some are truly in love and I have seen where it has worked out for them. But for me, I would feel like I am marrying my daughter. Yikes :girlwerewolf2xn: Thinking that I have teach them common things in life like you would with a child (they lead such sheltered lives to begin with in the Philippines therein lye's the problem) is not on the top of my list. My wife is about 18 years younger then me but she is 48, so she is mature and our age at this point in life is not an issue as it would be if 45 years was the gap.

Check with your Embassy website to determine the answer to that question. Some you can (Philippines is one) and some you can't (UK does not allow it). They should have a document that is called the Embassy Letter, which usually is contained in the P3, that you want to get a hold of, or they have spelled it out on the Embassy website.

Excellent question. Same I have....

Kano?

Google says: state in Nigeria, Taiwanese movie title, Kickstarter project, video game, lube oil, customer service predictive model.....

I'm sure this must be inside 'slang' for someone from western world?

I'm looking for a Kano Money Train too---but I haven't found the ticket counter. Humor of course :)

See my answer above

it doesn't say when.

"Once the National Visa Center has completed its processing of applicants’ petition and forwarded it to the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, applicants are expected to read and follow all Interview Preparation Instructions"

So when the NVC has sent the petition, or after the embassy contacts us?

I'm guessing after the embassy contacts us.

Can I complete the 160 (it is done, we just have not submitted), and pay the fee in advance? Or do I hold on for all of that till the embassy contacts us?

Kano = American (or Americano) Slang term that is used in the Philippines quite a bit to describe Americans.

If you have your case number, you can complete the DS-160 as you cannot complete the DS-160 with having the # (# = number  ) .

Here is some reading material which may answer the questions you pose.

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-et/niv/information/niv

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-et/niv (pay particular attention to the right "black" column as it gives information about the K1 process.

http://ethiopia.usembassy.gov/visas/fianc-visas-k.html

As I see it, once you have your case number from NVC then you can complete the DS-160, pay the interview (MRV) fee and schedule your interview online based on what little I read on the Embassy's website. But, be aware of any medical or additional documents that would be required by the Embassy. I am referring to such things as medical completion, criminal background checks, Police Certificates from other countries if she has lived elsewhere for 6 months straight, proof of singleness (free to marry), etc.

I was able to create a draft DS-160 using the WAC number; without filling in everything on each page you can't move on to the other pages. We use this Draft for her cousin to be able to review (with her of course) on her end. Once the NVC number arrives I can then go back and change the WAC number to that one. Then she can sign. That way we are not waiting, and rushing later.

Medical, police, :-) me not being prepared?

Already went to the Embassy approved hospital, and met with the staff. They had never had anyone come in without a letter from the Embassy. But they understood what I was doing after some discussion. They explained to her what to expect when she got the letter, got her patient file set up in the computer, and got her shots started (series).

Police--she's never lived anywhere outside Ethiopia for 6 months; only for 2-4 months at a time. But already getting a police background cert just in case---Just in case CO questions it. The local one will be done 3 weeks out from the interview date; already arranged.

I've asked for the note from Mom and Dad (separate from each), to include a photo of them holding the letters.

I've asked a friend living in Djibouti who I introduced her to, to send a letter acknowledging us, as well as his (and his family) intent to attend the wedding. Along with a photo of him holding the letter.

I've got this all in Microsoft Project Manager---And no I am not OCD, or anywhere close. I just know myself, and this is sort of the most important project I have ever had to undertake. I don't want to mess it up.

You got push back from the medical facility because they are only allowed or have a contract to allow only those who are processing a visa. They may have been instructed to have the letter from the Embassy.

But in the Philippines, we have met the same resistance but to get around that we just need to show that an appointment has been scheduled and you can have a print out of the appointment with the case number. Our medical facility in Manila (SLEC = St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic) they will also except a copy of the interview confirmation letter/email/webpage printout, OR the NVC letter OR a screen print from CEAC with your MNL# (case number for USEM).

Include the parent's ID's if they have them along with the letters and picture of them holding the letter. That should do it.

:wow: Now you got me over thinking

The things we do for love :D . I know I feel the same as you. Whatever it takes, it is worth it. I have not seen my fiance since July 31st. Oddly, these past couple of weeks our love for each other has skyrocketed even more so than when were we together in person. Even though we miss each other greatly, this time has really helped us become closer and improve our lives. But we are definitely both ready for her to be here as i'm sure a lot of you feel at this point in the process.
