how has this story not been posted? anyway, the sheriff, who hadn't been saying much since the investigation is ongoing (eyeroll) is now making excuses for the little big man cop who recently had to fight a teenage girl in order to uphold his sworn duty and protect this girls classmates from such a clear and present threat (another eyeroll).

amazing to me how the sheriff chose to speak on the third video which apparently shows the teenage girl 'hitting' the man beast with a badge as he throws her out onto the floor, after his initial reaction (which is similar to mine)

"I wanted to throw up," Lott said after first viewing footage of the incident. "This makes you sick to your stomach when you see that initial video. But that's just a snapshot."

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/sheriff-says-third-video-shows-south-carolina-student-punching-officer-n452481

and yeah, just a snapshot. how much of a weighlifting machismo cop manhandling a child in school should we be ok with?

this is a perfect example of why i don't want armed security in schools. unfortunately there's a very specific type of person that gravitates toward police work (don't read this wrong, not all cops have a napoleon complex, but if a person has a napoleon complex - they're more likely to want to be a cop).

Officer fired for violating policy in South Carolina classroom arrest

http://news.yahoo.com/c-sheriff-reveal-findings-probe-black-students-arrest-131457130.html

What the officer did was excessive and wrong, but I still don't get what's the deal with children (I must add even adults) and their cellphones. It's like a part of their appendage that they can't give up. I'm hoping in the distant future when my sons are older that I won't have to deal with cellphones, but it'll probably be some other fad/technology that replaces it.

I don't know how it became ok to disregard the clear instructions of both a teacher and a police officer and still somehow come out the 'victim.'

i thought that my son's middle school would be strict about allowing them at all but as long as the majority of parents insist their kid's be allowed to have them in school - for safety - cellphones will be a constant distraction and discipline issue. not to mention i see soooo many parents who can't even stop themselves from texting while driving their kids to school. <_<

good thing the sheriff stuck with his primary reaction when he decided to fire the cop.

hopefully this guy stays out of law enforcement, since he clearly cannot control himself as an adult. of course the opposite will probably happen.

It worked for Michael Brown

You should ask him how well it worked out for him.

She wasn't the victim until the officer acted in a manner unbecoming. Violence was not the solution in that case. Violence is never the solution, especially when it comes from those who are sworn to serve and protect. The officer was out of line. The kid was wrong - no doubt about it, but the level of violence deployed in this case was unwarranted.

Michael Brown was begging to be shot, because as a black teenager, that's what he should expect from the police. It's no different than 'those' women who walk down the streets begging to be raped.

Sometimes, there isn't a facepalm big enought, I tell ya!

You should ask him how well it worked out for him.

She was told to leave by the teacher, then the principal, then the police officer. So what are the choices. Let her refuse 3 authority figures mutiple requests and let here remain in the class room. If the don't forcibly remove here. How are they going to get her out.

Maybe of the janitor had come asked nicely?

What are they teaching these kids. So now the little brat is the victim? Spare me

Its a bit excessive. But hey man, plenty of chances for her to have avoided. You're supposed to do what your teacher tells you to do. Brat.

Yep, not like she was going through anything traumatic at the time, like losing a mother and a grandmother. But it is what it is.

There's a reason for everything. And she's no doubt young and dumb as it goes. But, that's no excuse.
