Hey guys! This is AOS from F-1 through marriage to US Cotizen.

Paperwork was received July 30th, 2015,

Biometrics done August 26, 2015

AS of September 12, 2015 CASE IS READY TO BE SCHEDULED FOR INTERVIEW

Work authorization came in October 12, 2015

But Petition for Alien Relative is still in CASE WAS RECEIVED status and still no interview letter......

Everything seems to be going smooth and timeline seems on track, but shouldn't petition for alien relative be approved before you're ready to be scheduled for interview???

On here people say a lot about interview date is often scheduled roughly a month after the work authorization arrives, and since it has been fairly smooth (when I called to clarify work auth questions I was told "we'll have you gotten your interview yet, you should be getting it soon!") and the guy was super friendly and enthusiastic!!!

We keep checking every day but still petition for alien relative is pending... Hmmm.... Or is that normal?

P.S. Obviously people on this forum have been or are in the process of waiting game, and are overall positive, but please don't say rude things because I am honestly wondering if there is an issue with why the petition for alien relative hasn't been approved. Thank you guys for all your feedback! And good luck to everyone!

Timeline

Many centers are backlogged. Mine took 7 months to get approved. Normally it is 6 months. You are almost there. This is the longest wait. After that all is smooth sailing. Good luck.

Oh thank you SO much for encouraging words! It seems like forever! :) so that means they should first approve the I-130 and then we will be invited to be interviewed? Patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue )))

Yes, the I-130 has to be approved before the I-485 can be approved, but that won't necessarily be reflected in your online case status.

Our I-485 interview was on August 28th (the IO told us she was "recommending approval").

Case status for our I-130 was updated to "Approved" online on September 4th.

Case status for our I-485 was updated to "Card/document production" on September 9th.

I know it's easier said than done, but don't worry. It sounds like your case is going smoothly, so for now just try to concentrate on collecting as much proof of your bona fide marriage as you can in preparation for your interview.

(By the way, don't panic if you don't get an interview date "roughly a month after the work authorization arrives". How quickly your interview is scheduled depends on which field office is dealing with your case, and some field offices are much more backlogged than others. I got my EAD in late April, and our interview notice arrived on July 23 for our August 28 interview, so we waited about three moths from EAD to interview notice).

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

Thank you so much! That really helps a lot! It's so true - definitely hard to stay cool and patient especially while you're used to being a student and having lots of "traffic" of people and having a job where you are constantly with people - and then all of a sudden you're in pending status, so I couldn't work and was on an off-track from college- sitting at home for over a month been realllllllllyyyy difficult to keep telling myself that it's ok)))

I guess I should focus on getting a drivers license and that way I can be added to car insurance and that's more evidence. We have lease from July 2014 and July 2015 renewal, energy bill in both names, travel, gift receipts, tons of pictures, letters from family and yet somehow I'm probably more nervous about the wait rather than the interview itself. Because what can you possibly ask that a couple that loves each other and lives together can't answer, right? :))

I'm also going through AOS from an F-1 visa and like all the rest said, this is a serious waiting game!

My husband and I have wayyyyyy less evidence than you (nothing under our names, we don't take lots of photos, we dont buy rings or have a ceremony because we are practical....) and even went back for a 2nd interview but we still got approved, so don't worry too much :-)

Btw we didn't give all the same answers to the questions in the 2nd interview when asked individually lol! I was worried we would be denied haha you are definitely in a better place than we are.

Omg Reanne, you cannot even imagine how much comfort it gives me!!!!!!! ?

Because we had a small reception for (seems to me obvious reasons) because my family is abroad and we didn't feel like cashing out on impressing Facebook friends while my family wouldn't be able to be attending. We do have rings though, mine is silver and cz because we are that way too- if we travel to see my parents to Europe it's not something to worry about getting stolen plus we'd rather work on a down payment for a house in the future.

And that's something I was super nervous about - "why was your wedding so small?" Ummm, cause my paperwork cost as much as a wedding haha ))))) and I'd rather take care of my legal standing than throw a big party. But anyway yeah... I felt like things we gathered to send in were all very organized and like it was good stuff like bank account statements and a year and 3 months lease plus we always rented a car to go on road trips.

I also met the family that's out of two different states and we took pictures with them- it would be hard to fool entire extended family right ))

So I'm just here sitting thinking what else can I possibly gather to be really confident and feel really prepared, you know!

I'm so glad all this waiting is over for you - must feel like such a relief!
