Oh wow great! I thought you needed to have your interview date before getting your medical.

I have just completed the DS 160 but i'm looking for the DS 2001, apparently this needs to be sent too. Hoping to get this all sent off tomorrow.

Nice! Congrats. Is December 10 the earliest you can be interviewed? My heart kinda sank at that because I need to resign from my job because I'm on a kind of deadline for when we can get married next year, because her brother goes back to college in the 3rd week of January. So we were hoping to get married on the 9th. But we will have to see

I'm not sure, but i have noticed that typically people get interviews the following month. It seems like you have a bit of a tight crunch :/

Thanks it is chilled I submitted the ds2001 on Saturday. I'm now waiting on them. Do you have your original affidavit of support? Or just a scan?

Ok great! Yes i got the original form from my Fiance. Actually he sent one filled n and signed and one just signed. He made a mistake on the other so i had to write his information in, but it has his original signature so it should be fine.

For the medical did you have to take your medical history to the exam? I'm confused about that and also don't particularly feel like driving around Cape Town collecting documents, lol.

For the medical, you need your vaccination history, if you have, your passport, 4 South African passport photos, your interview letter, and I think that's all that I took, have you made your appointment yet? They sent me all that info when I made mine

Yes i have, it's next Thursday. I have all the details but i forgot to ask about that, i was wondering because on some forums people said they have to. Tomorrow one month this will all be over, hopefully a happy ending

Is there a number you may know of by chance to call through the states? My fiance just got back and our case is now "ready" and we are trying to find out how long it will be for him to get the email for packet 3. His ds 160 is done and just waiting for the interview date to book medical already he has the documents needed from me as well. How long did it take to get notice. Our status changes yesterday and I have heard mixed things about the amount of time. MY fiance called the consulate but they told him to call nvc which I did but they have nothing on record yet of a date or information on timing,

Any help would be amazing!

I can only comment on my process.

When my status said "Ready" i phoned the Johannesburg consulate to confirm receipt. They said yes and will email packet 3.

They emailed packet 3 the next day stating i need to complete the DS160 and D2001. I completed both and sent them back the same day. I got packet 4 the following day and the scheduled my medical. This all happened in the span of 3 days. Once my case said "Ready" i never called the NVC.

They emailed packet 3 the next day stating i need to complete the DS160 and D2001. I completed both and sent them back the same day. I got packet 4 the following day and the scheduled my medical. This all happened in the span of 3 days. Once my case said "Ready" i never called the NVC.

How did your interview go?

It went so smoothly. I was granted my K-1 Visa! I'm beyond excited and relieved.

Now I leave here on the 29th of December!

And get married in the 9th

That's what I thought we have been trying to get a hold of the consulate but my fiance has been in the states with me on a tourist visa so we could be together since the last time I saw him was over 7 months ago. So we had to try on this side to contact them and we could never get through. He We got his nvc number and got all the papers together that he would need for when he was there to take it back with him. We have been waiting almost 3 weeks since it left the nvc and hadn't heard a thing. Finally after 3 weeks we got the status changed to ready. But when he called today (he is now back in SA) they told him to get a hold of the nvc for some reason because they would have it... made no sense. They gave me a number to try to reach them but it was for when you are in SA. He started filling out his DS160 to be ready since it is good for 30 days (he just did it maybe less then a week ago) so he completed it to be all set for when the packet 3 came through, It still hasn't been emailed to him so we are kinda lost. We had been trying to follow other timelines to compare and for some reason seems to be taking longer then normal.

The interview was not bad, I only got asked when my fiancée and I met, how we met and how we got engaged.

Expect a decent wait. The staff are friendly. It was really nice.

I don't know what else to say, It went really smoothly.
