Hi everyone,

I'd really be grateful if I could get some help here.
I just phoned Johannesburg consulate on the listed immigration phone number. I am waiting for them to email me about packet 3,
My Fiancee applied for a K-1 visa for me.

I asked the lady if my case had arrived from the NVC as it was sent through over a week ago. She said it can take 4 weeks and didn't have any additional information to give me.
Has anyone contacted them recently? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some questions I have:

Who do I actually call.

What do I ask them about?

Any additional help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

It is was just sent though a week ago I would give it some more time. The package has to arrive then they have to prepare your e-mail that contains your package 3. I would give it the full 4 weeks then start calling/e-mailing and you can ask if your package has arrived yet from NVC. And when you should receive Package 3.

I phoned again today to ask them to check my case, they said it was in South Africa. So I can only presume it's in the hands of DHL. Most people's timelines are 5-7 days not 3-4 weeks :/ I'm just super anxious to get done. I need to resign from my job and all sorts of things are riding on this visa. I can't just yolo resign and hope for the best. So that's why I'm anxious. My fiancée and I are really hoping to get married in January due to time constraints on both of our families. So yeah I'm stressing about this

Have faith that things will work out.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Sean,

Do you have your PCC and unabridged birth certificate? Those are 2 things that can take a while that you will need for the interview. If you don't have then now I would suggest you start to gather them.

That's great news!

I'm still waiting to hear from them. I tried to call the consulate today, but you can't get anybody on the phone. I emailed them yesterday but no response as yet. They're usually good about reply to emails. It's a bit frustrating because now we're so close but still so far.

We are you going for your medical? If in Cape Town please let me know how it goes, seeing as i will be not too far behind you (hopefully).

If you call 011-290-3500 you should get through directly to a person. Just ask if they can check your case status. Then give them the case status number. So mine started in JHN. I'm assuming yours will too.

I'm going for my medical tomorrow. Nervous. Don't know why, but I'll update when it's done. Gonna try book my interview this week :)
