AOS - Potential Interview Waiver Letter

Haven't posted on here in while but just wanted to get some peoples experiences on the Potential Interview Waiver Letter

I am adjusting my status from a K1 visa following marriage to a US citizen. We filed early July and our NOA1 is dated 15th July. We were living in PA when we filed but have since moved to Washington DC so I am not sure which state my case is being dealt with.

This week we got the Potential Interview Waiver Letter which states I may have to wait 6 more months - Did anyone else receive this letter and how long was it from the date of this letter did you get an answer on the case? Any other experiences with this?

We received the letter the beginning of this year (2015), and wife received her green card in August. So about 7 months after receiving the letter, and about 11 months since filing AOS.

Filed back in June, 2014. NPIW was received September, 2014.

September 10 of this year - AOS approval. So, 12 months after receiving the letter, and 15!!! months since filing AOS.

All the AOS applicants are first sent to the USCIS in Missouri to be reviewed. This Office determines if the case will be waived for an interview.

They have been backlogged in the past year. And to help process the cases faster, they started even sending cases to other USCIS offices to help review the case.

It's a random and you never know how long it will take.

But now it looks like things are getting a little better. Besides, there are some people here, on VJ, who got AOS approval in just a few weeks after receiving NPIW. So, hopefully, you won't wait too long
