Hello,

We contacted the embassy (Paris) regarding the documents I need to bring to the interview.

They answered that they will send me instructions but did not mention when...

I'd like to know how long before the interview the embassy sends instructions? (in case some documents are more difficult to obtain...)

thanks!

If you go here and find your consulate, http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/prepare.html

You'll see the instructions they'll send you about your interview.

I have downloaded that file already but in their email, it sounded like they had other instructions. If not, perfect because I have all the documents already :)

Thanks teeak!

They will never email you to send you the instructions. The P4 letter will include of list of documents that will be needed to be brought to the embassy at the time of appointment. On the portal site for the US Embassy specifically about France includes what is usually needed in regards to police certificates, birth certificates and what not given that France loves to have things within 3 months or less (on some items where applicable). So my suggestion is refer to your P4 letter given to you by NVC and also visit the travel.state.gov website and you will be able to click on Paris. Other than that good luck to you! We just got back from there and so all this info I am giving you is very recent!

I do not know why they said they would send instructions then... but either way I got all documents ready, just was worried that those instructions would include other documents...

Thanks grimm_jow ! :)

You are welcome! If you got all your documents ready you should be fine. It is pretty smooth there. Good luck again!
