I called USCIS yesterday and they said that people who have been xfered to the potomac center should go by the processing times of their original centers and that the PD doesn't change even though it's blank on the xfer notice.

Thanks for information. Hope good news come to all of us soon.

Our case was initially assigned in Nebraska. Case was then transferred to Potomac River Ctr. When we got the notice, like many of you, the priority date was blank and omitted to mention spouse petition as opposed to the first notice. We called USCIS and surprisingly, the automated message said our case was transferred to Nebraska. That's when the panic started...where has the case been for almost 4 months then? We actually spoke to an agent who didn't have the answer [to the automated message mix-up] so that person transferred us to the supervisor. The supervisor then told us that it is completely normal for a case to be transferred and re-assured us that, although not indicated on the transfer notice, our case in the system was correctly processed with our priority date and the petition indicating "spouse". The mix-up however was mind-boggling and didn't have the answer. She also said that all is in order but couldn't provide a timeline for the new center but did mention that it's a new center to help relieve the backlog. Online status remains the same. We haven't heard anything new since.

Hope this helps a few of you and good luck to all!

I'm confused about the Priority Date...I read online that spouses/dependant children do not need a priority date as there is no limit to how many alien numbers are availble for this category. Priority dates are only assigned for immediate relatives (parents, siblings etc) as teh US government has an annual limit of alien numbers for that category. The priority dates just puts you on a list for an alien number. Can someone please verify this, or correct me if I'm wrong with the appropriate information? This is why I did not panic when I didnt see a PD on our transfer notice.

If what you read is true, it actually makes things worse...The attorneys we consulted with told us otherwise and that it's the other way around and I noticed that all users mention a PD. We found out that without a priority date, the process can take years hence the advantage of the PD no matter USCIS' work load. Either way, the wait seems to be endless. I'm in Canada and last time I traveled to see my spouse, I was almost denied entry. If you plan on visiting, make sure you read all the requirements prior to heading to the airport. Not to be taken lightly as your intent [even if it's not] to Border Patrol has completely changed.

Having our cases transferred might be a 'good thing' but we all have no way of checking the processing times. Sigh... :clock:

i thought its going to be faster since the letter indicated for a speedy processing that is why it was transferred

We have been told that the process from start to finish will be about 18 months, (I am also Canadian). I do not visit anymore as I know I will be denied entry at the border. My husband will visit here or we meet up in different countries for mini vacations and reunions.

We were told spouses do not get priority dates, its simply a "wait your turn" game and all based on the service center your application is filed in.
