I can update to say that my case online was finally changed to "sent to state department". Looking through the app it seems like they updated a bunch of cases.

(Also this is off topic, and if there is a better place to ask please point me there, but do you know if interviews tend be scheduled at the begining or ending of months or is it simply throughout? I swear I read some where that they tend to schedule near the end of the month but I want to confirm. Thanks!)

I have seen today 5 new cases APPROVED from the serial list of 100 case from my case that applied on: 25, July 2016 :thumbs::thumbs:

Really hope to get my case to approve within the next few days as well.

Indeed they have updated their records. Me and a few others did not get an electronic approval update on our cases. Mine came in the mail dated August 11th.

My case status online updated yesterday saying Case was sent to department of state on August 22nd. So it completely skipped over the approval status online... Just a heads up for those who are still waiting. Keep an eye out for the mail too.

Good luck to all. Potomac is plowing through these cases.

Kortex, I've been following your case, because ours were approved 1 day apart. I was checking your case to see if you have updated it to NVC received. I am pretty sure our cases were sent in the same batch. I called USCIS about a week ago asking for certain if my case had been approved and if it had been sent and the tier 2 officer told me they are sent in bulk so. Looks like you and I have similar case time frames and I'm sure I'll be following your case further.

As for the interview, I am not sure. I'm sure there is a way on this site to see other cases from where your spouse is immigrating from and look at their timelines to see when their interviews were scheduled. But I can't tell you exactly to find it. This site seems a bit tricky.

Hi Everyone,

I filed I-130 for my mother and my priority date was July 7th. Hoping to get approval soon. Any July filer that gets approved here?

You should update your timeline and it will give you a good estimate at the bottom of that page when your case may be approved. Mine was actually pretty accurate.

Hi Everyone,

But just a heads up, it seems like spousal I-130s get approved a bit quicker than other family members. Don't ask me why, but that's just the way I have seen things from researching this for a while. Seems like spousal petitions are getting priority. But Potomac is pretty fast in approving folks so I'm sure it will happen faster than any other service center would handle it. Good luck!

I just updated my timeline. It can't give an estimate due to low number of cases as mine. Thanks!

Hey, I filed 3 days before you on June 17, 2016 for my wife and I was approved on August 11, 2011. I received an approval notice through the mail and nothing was updated on the USCIS website. They did however update it as Sent to Dept of State on the 22nd. So my advice is to look out in the mail for your approval notice.

Congratulations, I'm assuming that they're doing a great job at Potomac because other processing centers have a 5 month waiting period. I hope I get the approval soon. And I've read that the status updates aren't really reliable. Nothing came in the mail today so may tomorrow or...

I am glad to report I finally got approved as well. I got electronic notification on the 24th - the website updated on the 24th, and it says it was approved on the 23rd. It's not saying sent to department of state yet.

  • For those of you keeping tabs, it was 5 days shy of 7 months since they received it (January 28th).
  • At the 6 months mark, I had filed an ombudsman complaint, sent letters to John McCain's office, Jeff Flake's office and Kyrsten Sinema's office along with release of information forms available from their sites.
  • The congresswoman's office called me back shortly after the letter went out and they claimed they talked to USCIS who claimed it was in background check, that was completed on july 27 and someone is assigned to the case as of August 3rd.
  • They said there will be action in 30 days.
  • I continued calling USCIS, and i was continuously told it's still "pending".
  • As soon as I got the approval; 1 day later the Ombudsman's office sent me an email saying USCIS has made a decision on my case so they were closing my complaint.

You can be the judge of what may have prodded them along to get things moving - whether the congresswoman's call or the ombudsman complaint or both, but I suggest anyone waiting past the 6 months mark to do both, and continue to pester USCIS as much as possible with inquiries and infopass appointments, congressman/senator letters, ombudsman complaints, the whole 9 yards.

I wish you all good luck; I now have to switch forums to the NVC one :)
