Well, since you got an RFE it means someone is working on your papers, so it shouldn't take too long. From what I understand, the letter to you with the info should already be on its way or will be sent off very soon (worst case). Once they receive your reply to the RFE, it shouldn't take too long. Maybe you can find some people who did get an RFE before to see how long it took for them from RFE reply received to a decision?

This question is for anyone that got approved recently. How long did it take for Potomac to send your case to NVC?

My USCIS case status switched from "approved" to "Sent to NVC" exactly a week after it changed to "approved"

You'll get another text update if you signed up for it, when that happens. I also got the letter in the mail about 3 days later.

You should get the letter in the mail in about a week.

In the meantime, just do searches on Visa Journey for RFE's. No need to ask everyone what they got an RFE for. There are a million different things that could trigger an RFE and there are already a TON of posts on this site talking about different RFEs.

how long does it take for them to mail it in and also once I mail it back to them how long does it take

Hi I'm new to the group. I received a RFE Feb 9, 2016 and sent my response on Feb 24, 2016. I never received a hard copy in the mail, text, etc. I found out about the RFE through a Tier 2 Officer. They faxed me a copy of the RFE on Feb 23th since it was 14 days since they issued the RFE. They was requesting a photocopy of my husband's birth certificate that we had already sent with the initital I-130. I mailed the RFE on Feb 24 and mine was delayed by the postal service because but it was delivered on March 4th. USCIS updated that they received the RFE on March 18th and said I should get a response within 60 days of the date they received my response. May 18th will be 60 days but I hope I hear something before then. :clock:

Hik07: my husband works in Australia so we had to file to Chicago lockbox. We didn't go any electronic processing yet (but plan to on NVC stage). my guessing is our case goes relatively faster because I have worked and studied in the US, so makes it easier for them to track the background history and know I'm not a threat to the nation's safety:) Good luck to your case too.
