I am very excited! Our priority date was January 21, and my husband was approved on April 7! Super-fast. We received an email and a text message. The USCIS website says:

"On April 7, 2016, we approved your Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, Receipt Number YSC*******. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice."

Next comes the hard part, the I-601A--we'll be claiming medical hardship since I have poor health, and I couldn't live in Guatemala and receive proper medical care (and I can't live here by myself because my husband helps take care of me when I get sick).

Thank you everyone for all of your posts, it's encouraging to not feel alone in this process.

How You Will Be Affected

If we transfer your case, we will send you a transfer notice. Your original receipt number will not change and the transfer will not delay the processing of your case.

this is what I found out on the website ...

Congrats!! Did you request to have your case expidited? or are you a DCF?

Thank you, MrsBurgz. No, we filed from here in the US. I wanted to try to expedite the case but the lawyer said it wouldn't work--my health is not good but I'm not sick enough to warrant it being expedited, he said. (I have heard of people with cancer who don't get approved for an expedited case, in fact.) I am very shocked at how quickly they approved the I-130, it's very unexpected. We were told we might have to wait until June or August, but it was only 77 days. The only reason I can think that it was approved so quickly is because I followed the advice of the people here on VisaJourney in preparing the documents. The lawyer was so happy with our documents, actually; the legal assistant said she would like to use our paperwork as an example for other clients of what to do. Our lawyer had asked us to provide lots of photos, letters from friends and family about our relationship, etc., and so we did.

Oh, so you're doing the "normal" CR1, yes? And your case landed in Potomac right away, no transfer?

Yes, happiestoflives, doing the normal CR1. Our case went straight to Potomac, which I thought was weird. Where in Germany is your spouse/you? I have been there twice many years ago, I loved it.

Thanks, Eternal Spring :) So did ours, straight to Potomac. I'm a bit outside of Frankfurt. Where have you been to? There are so many nice places here :)

I flew into Frankfurt once (because I didn't know there are two Frankfurts, and I thought I was flying into the other Frankfurt, which is very small but is closer to Berlin). Then I took the train to Berlin (first time on a "bullet train", very exciting). I traveled to Kiel and Hamburg, then took a road trip down to Munich (where my cousin lives, she became a German citizen), then Vienna, Austria, and back again to Berlin. I also visited the palaces at Potsdam, went to Cologne, Rothenburg, Castle Neuschwanstein, Herrenkimsee, the Hartz mountains, and many other places. It was truly amazing.

Oh, you've been to amazing places already then :D

Yes, the two Frankfurts can really confuse visitors. I actually don't think the other Frankfurt has an airport, to be honest. Possibly a regional one. The bullet trains are great, aren't they? I have family in Munich, and I always love being in Hamburg. Just being near the water is great. If you have a chance to visit again, try to spend some time on one of the islands in the North Sea. It's great there <3

To have a little Potomac-related part here: I wonder if there's a difference in processing times for those who were sent to Potomac directly versus those who were transferred? Does anyone know? Also, the estimate in the timeline is gone again.
