Hi Everyone, I have few questions.

I filed for my father's case I am a US citizen and he is in Pakistan. He had is interview last week in Islamabad, Pakistan and he was told by the immigration officer in US consulate in Islamabad that his case is approved but he needs to provide i864-A from my self and my wife. Officer also kept his passport and gave all original docs back to him. He was given a while slip on which (SECTION 221G) is checked and at bottom they are asking form i864-A is needed between my self and my wife.

My wife is unemployed since she is a house wife but we do file our taxes as married filing jointly. I am his petitioner and sponsor and i originally filed i864 and my income is little over $2000.00 of 125% of poverty line with my current dependents and including my father (intending immigrant)

With little research and help of couple of members of visa journey I found out that i864-A is only needed when sponsor does not have enough income, income/assets of house hold member is being used as a joint sponsor or if sponsors spouse does not work but they have same address and file taxes jointly (in my case).

Please let me know if this is right or not... We have already signed and sent i864A to my dad and he will mail to US Consulate in Islamabad next week. Hopefully they will issue him visa without asking for anything else.

ALL YOU RESPONSE.EXPERIENCE WILL BE HELPFUL.... THANK YOU

Yep, since you guys filed "married filing jointly", she'll need an I-864A.

It's a good sign they kept his passport. Hopefully, they won't take too long to issue the visa!

Best of luck!

I am in the same situation also. My brother had interview last week and they asked same thing. I sent in documents and it was delivered yesterday to the embassy. I am hoping now they quickly issue the visas. They don't even reply for any inquiries either.
