Ok, so I am wondering what happens after you receive the NOA1? Do we just wait and keep checking the USCIS website to see if our petition has been touched? Or am I supposed to send something else in?

I read the NOA1 paper several times, and from what I have read, it doesn't say to send anything...so I think all we do is wait now, right???

This is probably a dumb question but I thought I remember reading somewhere that you have to send in something else after getting the NOA1.

I'm just a little bit confused here and I don't want this process to be delayed because of something that I might have misunderstood!

Thanks!

NOA 1 is basically a receipt notice which says your application is being processed and shows a probable--highly unlikely--time range for completion. Yes, you wait until NOA 2 comes which is the approval notice. That will require action--depending on the type of application, but you will be notified of the actions to take. Good luck!

i think if u want to apply for a K3 you have to send a copy of NOA1 and I-129F

but for us we didn't pursue K3, we just stick with CR1 because its an immigrant visa unlike K3 w/c is non-immigrant visa

but K3 can be faster tho...

Meg, all you do is sit and wait. It will probably take 2-3 months for the NOA2. More along the lines of 3 months. All the NOA1 is is documentation that your application has been received at the CS and they are processing it. Average wait time from NOA1 to NOA2 is about 90 days unless yours went to Vermont which is much faster. It's all a waiting game. Ken

jsassman, frdmrk2, and ken and mintra: Thank you so much for such fast replies!

I had a feeling that the NOA1 was just to let me know they are starting to look at our case. The last time it says it was touched on the website though was the 14th of February. Is that normal? Shouldn't I have another touch by now lol?

I forgot to mention that mine was transferred to the California Service Center, so me and my husband are probably in for a really long wait!

Thanks again for all the helpful and reassuring answers everyone! I feel much better! :D

we haven't got touched through out the process,

i also thought that CSC would take that long, but as i see it now...

many people from VSC are waiting for almost 6 months, they have a thread here w/c is What's going on with VSC.

some of them filed July 2006 and still no NOA2

Hmm, i just looked over my NOA1 and it has no probable date for completion at all. The priority date space on it is left blank. Is there usually a date there?

Wow, in July 2006 and still no NOA2? Looks like it IS normal then for our case not to have been touched again yet! It's only been like 20 days though, not like months, so I guess it IS okay.

Thanks! :D

Actually I was looking over mine last night and forgot to mention that I don't have a probable date for completion either. My priority date space is blank too.
