We got our photos taken last week based on the confusing directions from 8B of the I-129F packet. It states the photo should be"...full frontal view facial image.....in 3/4 frontal view" #######???

We took the photo with the 3/4 frontal view, with our right ear showing. This morning I did a search on this site and found an old post that said the 3/4 view thing is from 2004 but is still on the form. Withou getting into the obvious of why they haven't changed the form, I'm wondering if our photos will be accepted or should we get them redone? Has anyone else sent the 3/4 photos.

All you need is is a regular passport photo. See Guidelines: http://travel.state.gov/pdf/Photo%20Guide%2010-01-04.pdf Just go to any photo shop that does passport photos and get them taken there. It cost around $15.00.

I hope this helps.

Full frontal view is the standard, they won't accept 3/4 view, USCIS and DOS have standardized on full frontal 2"x2" photo since at least 2004

Only need 1 photo from Beneficiary, and 1 from Petitioner. I see what you mean by bad instructions in the I-129F form, first says full-frontal then 3/4 is mentioned.

You could submit the petition as is and see if you get an RFE, keep in mind all other photos need to be full frontal ones.

In my case My fiancee gave me a picture that was 1.5"x2" and it was accepted with our petition. I take my own picture and print them out for the process, cost to me was about 50 cents a pic.

I never ask why when it comes to our government.. but they recently changed photo rules for passports in the US (and in many other countries recently too) - obviously these weren't promulgated to all their forms. I never even read that till you mentioned it - thank goodness for VJ...again..

well, i don't relly want to chance an RFE, especially if others have used the full-frontal. Maybe I'll submit both.

It is not that others have used full frontal and not received an RFE because it is now the proper format. Submit the proper format.

YMMV

Full-frontal means the front of the face. 3/4 view of the face means that nothing must be covered along the 75% of your facial surface. It must be clean.

That is how I eventually interpretted it too, although I was very confused. Anyway, they are very crappy instructions, and you might think they should cahnge them... doesn't even say which paper size to use. I had mine redone too because the first i had them do 3x2 pictures because I had no ideawhat the proper format was. If they were going to write instructions at all, then they should at least be good instruction, or else the form should have directed us to the passport/visa website. Gah.

Passport Pictures - just like the Guides say.

Trust it Luke... use the Guides...

True - the guides are great, but it is unfortunate that the government continues to update and republish the actual instructions without making that revision to the instruction page now that the full-frontal requirement has been in place through - what - 2 revisions so far?

Inexcusable.

We *should* be able to at least trust the black-and-white, printed instructions published by USCIS. If they want to be sort of hazy on things, okay, fine, I'll play their game'o'ambiguity - but when they leave on such detailed instructions about the 3/4 old "ADIT" versions - argh! Get it together!
