Hello,

My lawyer is telling me that NVC officers lately are still requesting original civil documents in IV package disregarding the new rule that states NVC no longer requests original documents.

Is it true?

How many of you have followed the new rule by sending only photocopies and received interview letters without any issues by NVC since beginning of this year - 2015?

Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Hello,

I filed for my husband and I sent in copies of the civil documents. He does have to have the originals for his interview which is next month. I did not even use an attorney. I simply read what needed to be submitted from others who had gone through the same procedure and I began to follow that same path with only God ,who is the Alpha and Omega, my husband and myself. I do not know why your lawyer is asking for the original documents knowing that they are being lost everyday that is why they will take the copies during processing but you must present the originals at the interview.

I pray that this helps you.

JAbumere,

Thank you very much for your reply. You confirmed what I thought.

I hired a lawyer mainly as insurance for my complicated past.

So for now the score is photocopies - 1, originals - 0

For my case, my wife sent all originals to NVC because she had everything in hand. I read in USCIS website that NVC now accepts photocopies but still we sent all originals because we knew if we send all photocopies to NVC then we have to show all originals to embassy anyway.

My opinion is that, send all photocopy to NVC and take all originals to embassy during interview. However, you can also send all originals to NVC but be prepared for any accident might happen at NVC that they might misplace your any document.

Thanks! We've decided to submit copies only to NVC and bring originals to interview. Yes we heard about some cases where originals are lost at NVC. Fingers crossed, NVC follows the new rule and wouldn't ask for originals and delay the process. :)
