Yet another question =]

My fiancee's passport was stolen about 2 months ago... after I had filed the original I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance form. We just received his new passport and passport number!!! Which is extremely good news, but what do I do now?!?! How do I go about letting USCIS know this change with as few issues as possible? I don't want the process to push us back farther in time.

I called today and I was told that I had two options:

1) Write a letter explaining the change and send it to the California field office.

2) Write a letter, go to the field office in my local area and explain to them the situation and they can forward the information needed.

Opinions?

Welcome to the forum.

This sounds like advice spewed out from the USCIS customer dis-service phone line. Either one of those option may work. However, without a reference number to go by, it would be like trying to match up two very small needles in two very large haystacks. Whichever option you choose (or do them both), write an explanatory letter with copies of the bio pages of the two passports, and have it ready for submission at the embassy/consulate visa interview.

However, in the mean time, If you happen to get an RFE for other evidence, I would include a copy of your explanatory letter/document with the other returned evidence. With an RFE request form there is a reference number that enables the evidence to be routed to the adjudicator presently working on your petition.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
