I keep trying to go to the ELIS website and I can't seem to get anywhere. It asks for my LIN number and I put it in and it just tells me my case is being looked at (As if I just started to process).

Can someone please give me step by step instructions how to track my greencard? I've been in the US since the 07th of this month and got my SSN just a few days ago.....

Please help! We're really hurting funds wise, so I really want a better idea when I can start applying for jobs :(

Your green card should take between 1 to 3 months to arrive. You can track it using your Elis conformation number at "check my case status" menu at USCIS.gov. Word though sometimes the receipt number doesn't work in some cases. Either way regarding your work situation you're already eligible to start work since you have your social security card at hand. Your machine readable immigrant visa automatically became a temporary green card for 1 year the for employment, travel and any other purpose the moment it was endorsed by a CBP officer at the U.S. port of entry when you were admitted to the U.S. Your passport with social security number is all you need to start working, so go ahead and start job hunting/working while USCIS processes your actual resident card.

You can start applying for jobs now that you have an SSN.

The endorsed visa in your passport becomes a temporary green card valid for 1 year.

It normally takes about 1-3 months to get the green card hard copy but it's not required.

The only way we will know is to wait for 3 months, if GC is still not available, we can schedule appointment at USCIS or contact them at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/contactus.
