This topic is confusing as I see questions for cr-1 visa with answers for K-1 visa.

for the cr-1 visa you should of recieve a interview letter that will have a list of documents with a letter code that tells you what needs to be done with the documents. For the financial documents the letter should be y meaning that the nvc sent that document to the embassy. However I will still recommend for the cr-1 interview to bring the financial documents to the interview. In case for some reason the embassy does ask for it . When my wife did her interview I sent her all the financial documents and the embassy did not ask for any of it . But still it is better to have something you do not need then not to have it

below is the part of the interview letter you should have recieve with the letter codes

While the applicant was processing at the National Visa Center, we asked him or her to submit certain forms

and documents. On the following pages, we indicate the status of each of these forms and documents and any

action the applicant needs to take to prepare them for the interview. Please refer to the document status code

definitions below to determine what action to take for each item.

Document Status Code Definitions:

A Obtain the original or a certified copy of this document and present it at your interview

C You must bring this entire interview letter to your interview

D The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

F The NVC did not request this form or document

G You withdrew your I-601A, Application for Provisional Unlawful Presence Waiver, with USCIS

H You must obtain two passport photographs of yourself and present them at your interview

I This form is incomplete. You must present a completed form at your interview.

J The NVC only received a photocopy of the document. You must present the original document at

the time of your interview.

O The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

P You must request this police certificate from the issuing authority. After you submit your

request, the issuing authority will send the certificate directly to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate

for your interview.

R You submitted the Immigrant Visa Application online

S The NVC only received a scanned document. You must present the original document at the time

of your interview.

T You must present an English translation of this document at the time of your interview

U You indicated this document was unavailable. The consular officer will decide whether to waive

the requirement for this document at your interview.

I forgot to include the imporant reminders in the interview letter with my last post . So if you file for extension on taxes you will need to bring the most recent tax return

*** IMPORTANT *** Interview Reminders

================================================================================

? Applicants may need to bring an additional police certificate to the interview. If the following three

items are all true, the applicant needs to bring an updated police certificate to the interview:

? He or she is more than 16 years old;

? He or she obtained a police certificate more than one year ago; and

? He or she still lives in the country that issued the police certificate.

? Bring this interview letter to the medical exam. Bring this letter to the medical examination because the

panel physician may need to review it before performing the examination.

? Bring updated Federal income tax information to the interview. If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of

Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal

income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return to the visa interview.

? Petitioners are not required to attend the applicant's immigrant visa interview. Facility size and/or

security concerns may limit who may accompany a visa applicant during his or her visit to the U.S. Embassy

or Consulate. Please visit the U.S. Embassy or Consulate's webpage for more information at usembassy.gov

#1 for the interview at USEM... follow the EMBASSY instructions letter.

It is the letter for immigrant visas (which the IR/CR-1 is) http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/IV%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf

yes that is the instruction letter from the embassy website. But it is not the personel letter a person will recieve from the embassy stating what is needed, what i posted is actually part of the interview letter that a person will recieve doing the cr-1 visa interview

There are codes in the letter a person recieves. if you notice the letter y is next to financial documents the code for the letter y is that the documents has already been provided to the embassy from the NVC so it is not require. I still think

A person doing a cr-1 visa interview should still bring thier finanical documents to the interview. However it is not require if the NVC had already sent it and is stated on the letter

Also your replys was not the ones I refering to when I said this topic was confusing it was other posters that posted answers and I see k-1 visa by thier names

Follow the embassy instructions letter. USEM wants a SIGNED I-864, not a copy.

http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/1178798/feb2015/IV%20Applicant%20Interview%20Preparation%20Instructions%20-%20English%20_February%202015_.pdf

Millions of dollars in assets that produce no income? Petitioner needs a better financial adviser.

Retired people have income. I do. I just don't have to go to work ;)

Don't confuse income with employment.

From the US Department of States website ..

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/support/i-864-frequently-asked-questions.html

Q- What Cash Value of Assets is Needed?
A- The total net value of assets, less liens and liabilities against them, must equal five times the difference between the sponsor's income and 125% of the poverty level for the household size.
Sponsors of spouses and children of U.S. citizens must only prove assets valued at three times the difference between the poverty guideline and actual household income.
Sponsors of orphans who will acquire citizenship after admission to the United States must only prove assets equal to the difference between the poverty guideline and actual household income.

I called USEM Manila yesterday and the guy that I got to talk to said that if the petitioner already sent the original documents to NVC then NVC will forward it to them. No need for me to bring those documents anymore. But, he did say that if we have more recent documents (ITR, W2, etc.) that we haven't sent with the Affidavit of Support package then I should bring it with me to the interview in case the consular officer asks for it.

Thanks j&ana, I received my interview letter and it did state there that NVC will send financial evidence to the USEM. But the letter also states that I should review additional information from USEM Manila which is where it got confusing since the website states that the original evidence of financial support should be brought to the interview. That's why I was asking if petitioner should make another copy for me to bring to the interview (which is kinda weird and confusing for me). But, as I said on my other post, I called USEM Manila and they said that I don't need to bring the I-864 to the interview if we already sent the originals to NVC because they will have it together with the package that NVC will send to them before my interview.

Yup I have read that as well, I also know what USEM accepted and didn't accept... assets they didn't accept; one case was a K-1 and the other case was an IR/CR-1. They look at income.

Just because it is on the DOS website doesn't mean that is what will "work" at the embassy... each embassy tends to have its own rules.

Once in the States is a different story with AOS and such.

Yes NVC forwarded everything to USEM, but doesn't mean too much, USEM want their own copies. Take the worry out of the day, follow the embassy instructions letter.

So you are saying one should not believe what the US Dept of State website say?

What about USCIS website itself, below?

http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf

Does this mean that if one chooses to put all his millions of USD in the bank, earning no income, he would be denied?

What I am saying is each embassy has their own process, and USEM does not look at assets, they want adequate income from the sponsor.

USCIS is a different department, what they do has no bearing on the process at USEM and visa versa.

Do you have an actual question or are you just asking "what about this"?

My understanding is the USCIS has an office (branch) in the USEM and it is the one who deals with this issue.

I understand your position ... hence, no question!

I am sure you know about the USCIS office at USEM being you are completing the DCF. But USCIS in Manila does not "deal with" the visa application, they only handle your petition processing, two separate and different processes.
