Hey guys,

I'll be applying for ROC around May of next year, but I had an important question...

I had my wife's step-dad as a co-sponsor during my initial green card journey, because we didn't fall above the poverty line. Will her dad have to be part of this process as well as a co-sponsor?

The reason I ask if that my wife's mom and her step-dad are amid what is probably going to be a nasty divorce, and I don't know if I could get him to provide me with any more information (pays tubs, tax statements, etc) if he is going to be taking a spiteful route and essentially cutting himself off from us entirely. It was a struggle to even get him to participate in the first place, because he's a very private/paranoid person when it comes to his personal identity and information.

Please help!

hi

he is still the co sponsor until you become a USC, divorce has no influence since there is no change when removing conditions

you fill out the i751 and provide proof of bona fide marriage, you won't send another i864 because the one you have is in place until you become a USC

he should have read the instructions

ROC does not involve sponsorship.

The I-864 is still in force, but you won;t need anything from him for this part (no documents, signature etc etc).

No he did and he is aware. But in the midst of them going through a divorce, I don't think his priority would be to provide me with more documentation when he's already going through a difficult time. Also I just would feel awkward asking for more things, honestly.

Okay thank you! I didn't see it anywhere in the instructions, but I just wanted to make sure, I didn't know if we had to send updates tax information for either us or him.
