Hello Everyone!

I'm new to the forum. I have already found great information here and thanks to everyone who takes the time to help folks like me. A little background; My fiance is in the Phillipines and I already have an approved I-129F. I now am preparing the I-134 Affidavit of Support. Though i did find similar posts, I have questions a bit different from what I have seen. My appologies if I didn't search enough. First a little more information about me. I am a retired US Postal Service Employee. After my retirement I correspond with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). I receive an amount monthly as a pension. Here are my questions:

1. How do I report this income? Item 7 of the I-134 asks for "I am employed as or engaged in the business of...". Well retirement isn't employment so I leave this blank? Below that it says "I derive an annual income of (if self-employed I have attached a copy of my last income tax return.....)" It seems on the form there is no option for retirement income. I'm also not sure of the required proof of this either.

2. If i have sufficient income from my retirement to be over the poverty guidelines, do i need to report other assets and the required proof of those?

Thanks in advance if anyone can shed some light on this. I don't want her to get denied at the interview.

Craig

it says I derive an annual income of. It doesn't differentiate the source.

I currently work. You do not. We both derive annual income. Even those w/ steady employment typically submit all the supplemental evidence, such as tax transcripts, employment verification, bank statements vetting average balance/deposit, w2s, pay stubs ...etc. I don't see how a pension changes this. The form specifically mentions self employment provide a full tax return.

Thank you Heo Luoi. I will report the pension income under derived income. And I will put together proof of other assets to cover everthing. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

Yes, pension income and also better to include other assets such as 401K plan, savings, if you own a house, the approximate equity value of the house.
