I just got a letter with my biometrics appointment and it turns out to be on the day that I would be coming back from Chicago. My appointment is at 11am and my flight arrives at 2pm, meaning the earliest I could make it would be 4pm. The application support center is in Elizabeth, NJ. Any advice? Should I keep the appointment and just show up late or should I try to reschedule all together and risk it taking much longer?

Please help.

You can try a walk in on another day (before or after the scheduled day) that you will be in town. Often there is little problem doing this, especially if you go at an "off peak" time of day.

Unfortunately the Elizabeth, NJ ASC is notoriously strict about walk-ins - there are multiple posts on VJ from people who have been refused walk-ins at Elizabeth, the most recent is from this morning. It looks like Elizabeth hasn't allowed walk-ins for several years.

Could you try a walk-in at another nearby ASC? The NY ASCs all seem to allow walk-ins unless they're very busy.

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".
