According to the link provided, http://www.cbp.gov/border-security/ports-entry/operations/preclearance, about pre-clearance sites, Abudhabi is one of the new ones.

So did you go on visit visa or immigration visa and how long does it take?

Both times I was coming back from visiting my husband in Pakistan. But I went through the US point of entry with several people that were immigrating. Since I don't lie on my customs forms and checked yes, I was around farm animals and yes, I was near farms and fields, I go through extra inspection. Even with that I was through in 10 minutes and I think the others got through before me. So the two times I went through it was very quick for everybody.

What can take a while though is getting to the POE. If you haven't changed planes in Abu Dhabi before, be prepared to wait in line for security at least twice! When you first get off the plane, they herd you through one security checkpoint where they check everyone's passports and you put all your stuff back through a security scanner. Then you do it again when you enter your new terminal, although that one is generally a little faster. So allow at least two hours if you're transferring.

Good luck and have a great trip!
