Ahh, good to know. So, if they don't get an RFE, taking it to the interview would be the way to go.

The I-485 itself asks for the I-94#, current status and last entry date, but the I-485 instructions do not ask for a copy of the I-94 to be submitted for those adjusting from a visa other than a K-1(which I assume is to make sure they married within 90 days of entry and did not leave before filing). If they require it anyway, then they should just add to include a copy of the I-94 in the general requirements along with copy of non-immigrant visa.

Exactly. I could have sworn it used to be in the instructions for a previous I-485 edition that you needed to enclose proof of legal entry, even for non-K-1s, unless you were doing something like a 245(i) adjustment which does not require it. Either way, taking it to the interview is definitely the way to go; even if you submitted a copy of it, they may ask to inspect the original, and will sometimes retain it to become part of your alien file.

Well i printed mine out just in case, and it actually says on the bottom; as of 2014 ( may be 2013, can't remember now) that i-94s are now produced electronically instead of being handed out and this letter will suffice as evidence for legal entry. Which answers your question as to why they are not 100 percent necessary for all visa types!

They are required for all visa types though, is my point. You need to enclose proof of legal entry for almost all AoS cases., but the I-485 weirdly only specifically mention K-1s.

is the way to go.
