What about DARPA?

DARPA as the genesis of networked computers, then yes a major factor in the development of World Wide Web. The World Wide Web didn't actually become a reality until Tim Berner-Lees (A British Scientist) proposed the concept of interlinked hypertext documents with a Belgian scientist (Robert Cailliau) at Cern in March 1989.

A collective effort.

I am sorry you took my comment as a personal attack; however, you are incorrect in your opinion about plagiarism. Here is some reading that ought to help you gain better understanding. Quotations alone are not enough; one must also cite the source. :)

http://www.plagiarism.org/plagiarism-101/what-is-plagiarism/

All of the following are considered plagiarism:
  • turning in someone else's work as your own
  • copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
  • failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
  • giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
  • changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
  • copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not (see our section on "fair use" rules)

Most cases of plagiarism can be avoided, however, by citing sources. Simply acknowledging that certain material has been borrowed and providing your audience with the information necessary to find that source is usually enough to prevent plagiarism. See our section on citation for more information on how to cite sources properly.

Since plagiarism is taking someone else's work and trying to pass it off as their own, of course you are incorrect yet again.

I did what most everyone else here does, paste information that was read on the internet. In fact, I even put quotation marks around it, the universally accepted method of showing that one is quoting someone/something else. Nowhere have I seen anyone being accused of a TOS violation because they did not cite a source on here. And since you were able to simply copy a few words that I quoted, and find the original article posthaste, then I think my method of posting worked just fine.

I don't appreciate your lame attempt at a personal attack on my posting style. Please try to stay focused on the topic(s), not the poster(s).

Yes but the subject was not hypertext language , it was the internet and networking. Google failed you

The poster made a comment that the USA did not lead the way in pioneering networking and the internet. He is flat wrong.

Yes Berner helped devolp http, but the world wide webb and the Internet are not the same thing.

The Internet was around long before the www. In fact I was on it before WWW. Archie, Veronica , Wais, Use net etc.

I guess you could argue that I am guilty of #2, in a roundabout way. But since it was VERY CLEAR that I was not saying those words and trying to pass them off as my own ideas (hence the QUOTATION MARKS), even that argument wanes. I quoted something. On a forum where so few ever present an original idea of their own. Big deal.

It's not like I was posting on a school forum for a grade.

Sorry, unlike some, I do not have to rely on Google when it comes to certain things. If you reread my post, I did give credit to DARPA for inter-networking. I also made it very clear that the WWW as a collaboration of others,

The only thing I didn't point out was that the World Wide Web IS the internet to most users, the term being used interchangeably today.

Yes, you are. Using copyrighted material can be tricky sometimes, so don't beat yourself up. I'm glad I could help. :)

Many soft drinks are called coke. That don't make it so

Since you are having difficulty understanding, allow me... I did not plagiarize anything. And I am not beating myself up. What I QUOTED is nowhere copyrighted material. And even if it were, I made no attempt to pass it off as my own. Sad it is that you cannot understand a simple concept.

Money changes just about anything and he's got enough of it not to care what he looks like.

what are you talking about. trump is a commoner amongst commoners. he became the money he is today with nothing, nothing but hard work. 60 hour work weeks. no health insurance/saftey net. pure ingenuity. genetic excellence. and a 1 million dollar loan from his papi. and he had to pay that one million dollars back. with interest, by god. trump is nothing but an inspiring rags to riches savior for the laboring masses. oh and his hair is on fleek.
