Here are 9 reasons Denmark’s socialist economy leaves the US in the dust

Doesn't sound to me like a position I would be very envious of being in:

"In Denmark, consumers owe their creditors 321 percent of disposable incomes, a world record that the Paris-based OECD said in November demands a policy response. In Sweden, debt by that measure is close to 180 percent, a level the government and central bank say cant be allowed to rise. Norways central bank has struggled to find a policy mix that addresses its 200 percent private debt burden."

That being said, I DO envy them for being tied for being #1 in the "Levels of corruption category". That is one problem the US has that will take some time to overcome.

i wasn't complaining - i was being grateful. i was lucky. not only did i have a job that offered short term disability after i was disabled from working on a short term basis (read, not being lazy, unable to work for six short weeks) i was able to take my son to my mom to be watched for free when i returned to work.

please eieio, in all your capitalist murican wisdom, explain to me the benefit of punishing americans for having children?

I was mostly referring to the article. If I implied that you were P and M about it…I apologize. I did not read that in your post.

The article makes correlations that are most likely not true. One thing I did get out of the article is that the lazy and the freeloaders are much happier in Denmark. :joy:

There are benefits and disadvantages to all countries. I prefer to live in the greatest country in the history of mankind. Love it or leave it comes to mind.

I understand many on this board have a huge amount of distain for the US and are angry that they live here. My advice is that they pack their bags and move. We will both be happier.

well, i'm not angry that i live here. this is where i was born, i'm grateful that i was born here. there are certainly places that are much worse to live.

but i do believe that a country is so full of itself will find that the good times will end eventually and those that think they're sitting pretty probably won't see they're downfall coming.

Rome, Britannia, or Persia ? Its not concrete which one was the greatest. Clearly being poor in any of them would have been harsh. I'd probably go for Britannia as long as I could have been posted in India enjoying Gin & Tonics to hold malaria at bay.

Our. Political parties may as well be football teams. Both sides cheer on thier side, thier side can do no wrong, and all people really care about is who wins.

I am very curious about where you found your factoids. No links? Just throwing them out and thinking that we should be impressed?

Normally, when posters resort to plagiarism, as is the case here, it indicates that the 'facts' are in reality opinions, gleaned from an op-ed. It is no different here, that just a regurgitation, with no additional input.

Don't forget ancient Greece.

I like the list in the link below. The USA is at number seven, right behind the Islamic Golden Age. Good times!

I would have voted the Persians and the Ottomans higher. Maybe the Armenian Genocide is counting against them?

I would vote the Mongols lower due to a lack of sustainability.

Since plagiarism is taking someone else's work and trying to pass it off as their own, of course you are incorrect yet again.

I did what most everyone else here does, paste information that was read on the internet. In fact, I even put quotation marks around it, the universally accepted method of showing that one is quoting someone/something else. Nowhere have I seen anyone being accused of a TOS violation because they did not cite a source on here. And since you were able to simply copy a few words that I quoted, and find the original article posthaste, then I think my method of posting worked just fine.

I don't appreciate your lame attempt at a personal attack on my posting style. Please try to stay focused on the topic(s), not the poster(s).

I only read #6 & #7, and IMHO, the writer of that little article is VERY full of himself on the part of the USA. While I think the US is a great country, to say that they "ushered in the digital age with smartphones" indicates the writer has never even been outside the US, nor has he/she read about technology in other countries. Asia led the way with smartphones. Even the Philippines, considered a third world country, had smarter phones than the US until just a few years ago. Korea and Japan have broadband speeds that make the US seem slow and expensive.

And to imply that the US created the internet or networking... just sad. But hey, to each his/her own opinion, eh?
