I've seen a lot of people retiring later in the last couple of years, but also more than ever, we've had retiree's coming back or changing their mind at the last minute. And that's people who are actually getting social security, which today's grads really shouldn't count on.

In a few years, retiring by 75 might even be considered optimistic.

Isn't that why some of "us" marry a spouse from a so called 3rd world so we can retire there, since the cost of living is lower there. I told my wife this, and she just laughed at me.

It may not be the sole reason for the marriage, but there are people who post here that have done just that.

Lol. My husband and I would definitely retire when we are 55. We're still deciding if it's s good idea to retire in the phippines or not. But we definitely dont want to work another day when we turn 55 :)

Ooooh. For us, it is about working. We can't really travel given that he works for the state and it's really hard to get vacation time approved as its based on tenure (old people who work for the gov't seem to not want to retire at all and they get all the vacation time they want) hahaha!

Agreed. I'm out of here at 50. There are more important things I want to do with my life, besides work. In addition, there is a whole generation of young people whose talent needs a place to blossom. Old folks need to get out of the job market and give these younger individuals room to grow.

I feel like I won't want to retire at 65.

How is that possible? You work hard, save and retire at the end of your career. That's the American promise. If the socialists in Europe can do it, why can't we best them?

Can't you feel the wealth trickling down your leg?

right?! too bad most can't afford to.
